I would be surprised if the belt gives any trouble. Some of the latest Harley models have a very narrow belt to give sifficient clearance to the current wide rear tyre trend.
I have owned belt drive Harleys for aroung 15 years now and never had any belt trouble at all.

But why would Morgan change it to a wider belt and a narrower wheel if not for strength?

Easiest place to lose weight in any car is from the driver. Time to start eating your greens? On the other hand, how many of us could afford to lose 75kgs? I wouldn't even have the weight of an arm left if I attempted that.

You could add helium balloons. Although, that wouldn't help with the mass to be accelerated.

I have seen many spend so much for titanium lugs and bolts to save such a little amount of weight on their toys, when hitting the gym and eating a salad once in a while would be just as efficient. I don't have 75kg to lose either

Well, I like titanium. I even have a couple of titanium rods in my foot (it would have been surgical steel, but I asked for titanium)  Anyway, I could probably lose 5-10 kg and still be healthy and able to row as I do today. But anymore than that, and it would be a problem. In reality, although losing weight is cheap, I'd still prefer to have a lighter baseweight on the vehicle. 40-50kgs would be great.
