The contract is signed, and a new Plus 4 Sport 2011 model in "sport white/saddle brown" will be mine sometime early may

We are a family of three. My fiancee, myself and Hiro the whippet (small dog similar to a greyhound for those not in the know.)

The first question is where does the whippet go? I'm thinking of fitting a roll-over bar behind the seats, and making a net/webbing to go across the back and keeping the dog on an enlargened platform behind the seats... unsure if it will fit when it grows up, as it is just 3 months old at present. Any ideas to taking a dog along for morgan motoring are welcome!


As for the car it comes mostly standard with:

Seriously though. I know a family whose giant poodle sleeps in the passengers footwell with ease.

He sits on the passenger seat of course !!

Should have gotten the 4 seater. I have a problem with my fox terrier. He likes to get on my lap while driving and he is 34 lbs, and doesn't really fit between the steering wheel and my tummy. He does like to open the sliding windows on his own. Whippets are very slight, and you shouldn't have a problem putting them on your passenger's lap. You could do what Romney did on a summer vacation. Put the whippet in a carrier and fasten it to your luggage rack.

I think you could train him to lay down behind the seats as he is still young and quite small. A harness, to stop any attempted jumping out when topless, is essential. A friend has a whippet and, even fully grown, I think he would be comfortable behind the seats of my 2 seater. Beware of scratches on your leather interior!

Steve you are starting to worry me I read the normog bit first and thought easy its a whippet it can keep up running along behind then read yours ( what did you put ) Get your crystal ball out .
Its easy leave the fiancee in the house , the dog cant say, slow down you are going to fast , you took that corner to fast , you are driving like an idiot ,and all the other put off,s and you dont have to ask him when you stop at the pub .
I used to take my Staffie in the late 1980s for a ride he would sit like a 4 legged Stirling Moss , but the wind got up his nose and he kept sneezing on the windscreen and dash . But he loved it and I loved him he would lie in-front of the mog and not move so I could not go without him .
PS While you are at it knowing what I think and do, have a look and find out when that Cameron Diaz is giving me a visit I need a hand in the garage with the grease .

I'm going to try and fabricate a plate behind the seats, with a mounting point for a harness at one end to stop any acrobatics from the dog. Will post pictures when it's done (might take some time though, need the car first!)

The sport range looks so uncomplicated and neat, nice colour combination ivory and tan. The space behind the seats is easily whippet size and the roll bar should provide excellent tethering. One of our local Morganeers keeps his lab in the the passenger footwell of an Aero, although his dog looks worn out and tired and doesn't jump about much.
