I have a PAJ Trackers on the MG, Morgan and Harley. https://www.paj-gps.co.uk/

Internal battery so I have to charge every couple of months or so, but they still work if the battery is disconnected. Mag mount so fairly easy to hide.

Subcriptions are between £6 and £10 per month. There are cheaper out there - Sino Trak is also good and just relies on a SIM card and PAYG subscription

This seems so cruel and un-fair. Surly the administrators will see if RTCC have paid someone for a car, ie "Where is the actual payment you have made for this specific car" If the car has not been paid for, then he did not have title to sell it, so it's a criminal act? So then should the buyer of the car loose out? Richard Thorne should sell his house and pay people he owes back (in and ideal world) but that won't happen.

He obviously knew there were cash flow issues a long time ago. I just don't understand why people act like this and not have paperwork and agreements in place.

I think your comments were a very understandable position to take, my immediate reaction was very similar, as I knew where the guy lived, especially when the Police failed to act,

Plus I also felt a bit of an idiot and really annoyed with myself for allowing myself to be had, whilst I'd taken as many precautions as I could, with the best of intentions, with signed contracts, inserted a Romalpa Clause etc. I still got taken to the cleaners. Whilst it did represent a significant sum of money, my loss was initially felt more because it was a very rare low mileage Mercedes, which I knew I couldn't easily replace,, as it had taken years to find this example and that really stung more than the money at the time.Had I not got a specific insurance storage policy, I would have felt the loss financially as well. It took months of uncertainty before I knew I was going to be paid out by the insurance, not a good time.

It can be a very bitter lesson to learn, when it comes to money and assets, trust no-one, and most importantly, if you put a car in storage or SOR make a point of regularly going and seeing it. Which also gives you the opportunity to see if the business circumstances have changed (especially in a recession when most of these type of things happen) and talk to the proprietor and judge his reactions/drift or changes in outlook as you engage them in their state of business discussions.

I was reading a topic similar to this on pistonheads recently. Insolvency can result in either a civil matter or criminal, depending on the actions of the company directors in the period leading up to the insolvency declaration. It results in either pure financial matters for creditors to ge reimbursed or prosecution for fraud type offences.
Definitely register a claim for the balance of the sale still owed with evidence of the money transfers. That means you would possibly get some money back but how much depends on where you are in the pecking order and what money can be found to do repayments. The norm is that you tend to get a percentage or "x" pence per £ owed. A second thing to be aware of is registering ownership of your items held at the insolvent company. You show proof of ownership so the administrators know that these items are YOUR property and not an asset of the company. This means you can get them back but not always quickly!

I would advise anyone with a interest/claim in the liquidation to notify the liquidator of that before the Creditors Meeting. Attend the meeting if at all possible, as RIchard Thorne should be in attendance and will be available to answer questions. It will soon be clear as to the size of the liquidation .Where ever possibly make reference to continuing to trade whilst insolvent, wrongful or fraudulent trading as appropriate', especially if cars have gone missing or sold without owner's knowledge or permission then theft and intent to defraud.

These meetings in my experience can get emotional, but stay calm and focus your involvement in not only getting answers regarding your personal situation and making sure your interactions and delays are drawn out for the Liquidators attention to justify as far as possible and state the potential of wrongful and fraudulent trading therefore personal liability of directors to contribute to the liquidation (as appropriate). Use this as an opportunity to focus the Liquidator (as appropriate) on any wrongful or fraudulent trading.

Whilst it is a small recompense, you have the opportunity to make the director squirm (if they care at all) regarding all the discussions , promises etc. made relating to your circumstances,

Easier to seek forgiveness than permission smile

That's very true, but unfortunately self help is usually illegal and its's amazing which side of the conflict the Police can fall on.......and it's not always the commercially injured innocent party that they finish up supporting.

Not exactly the same situation but I did some time on Bailiff work around debt collection for taxes, and although we would remove all available assets on the day, anyone who claimed ownership was given time to prove title before the auction took place.

With bigger items such as engineering equipment and some vehicles which could not easily be moved and stored, the premises were made safe and the auction took place on site.

PS. I checked yesterday the MSCC are aware of what's going on. They didn't know the whole story but are better informed now.

Sad news -but as many have said they wont be the last, my dealings with them were remarkably happy back in 17-18 . I thought it strange that Richard didnt seem keen to engage with an upfront colonial , but conversely Helen was an absolute delight -nothing a problem and even dropped us back at our Hotel when leaving the UK.

My first drive in a Morgan was a 4/4 rented from Richard Thorne nearly 20 years ago. My wife and I had a glorious weekend in the Cotswolds, and we bought our first Morgan from Richard the following month. Both he and Helen were a delight to deal with.

I'm very sad to see it end this way.
