If I ever sell my 4/4, its successor would be a Ford Model A Roadster.

Equally good styling, pre-war car flair, open top motoring, simple, easy to maintain technology, good spare parts supply, affordable prices, with the 3.3-liter engine providing enough torque to keep somewhat up with today's traffic.

I've had most of the cars I wanted as a kid and not. much changed when I got older. I've still a hankering for an E-Type, Healey 3000 or a Cobra (maybe even a copy) but in reality wouldn't buy any unless my personal circumstances changed significantly.

I guess in the same bracket as my Morgan perhaps a Tr4 or TR5

2012 Plus 4 in Sport Green. Much comfier than the Plus 8!

Alfa Spider, Classic Porsche 911 targa? I really don't know. I'm lucky with the Morgans. Only once, 15 years ago, I was tempted to buy a Porsche 997, but SWMBO was able to talk it out of my head. swmboBut many years later, she agreed to buy a new PlusFour, on the condition that the 4/4 should stay. I'm lucky it went that way! love drive

"How about an Alfa Romeo 8C Cabriolet"
Nice but about ยฃ250k.
Maserati 4200 Spyder -- two-seater, same engine, same gearbox. Low mileage one about ยฃ20k. In my view it looks better than the 8C -- but I would say that because I have one.

Have a boring little shopping car

Have a 300tdi Defender for the rough stuff

Have a Racecar for door-handling fun (not into risky driving on the roads these days)

Got a 4.2 ton camper van for towing it about and travels

Got a couple of Motorcycles

The crossflow trad Morgan fills the niche of approximating the 'pre-war' driving experience ... not considering parting with it after all the busted-knuckles of the ground-up resto ... but if it got written off or whatever, then I'd try and replace it with the best actual pre-war car I could justify .. always fancied a sporty Riley.

Yes, I could be tempted with a Riley MPH.
