All my cars have a kind of squeal. It is only apparent when:
1) Mrs F is in the passenger seat
2) I am “making progress”

On a trip down the Fosse Way to visit friends in Somerset many years ago, she had lost her voice. Journey time reduced by 30 minutes.

No chance. I'll just move on to the wind noises. If I ever get through those, then there'll be the rattles to keep me entertained. Years of fun getting it just right for the next owner!

My previous car was a 1959 TR3a. My dad had restored it in 1982-1984. It always rattled at the front on bumps. Last year I was stripping the suspension and found a bolt and washer, free but trapped in the lower spring mount. Rattle resolved, only took 41 years! Of course, Dad denies responsibility and was ready to argue 'no warranty'!

We, continental people, thought it was typical British and often happens after a tea-break. The workers left all the stuff at the spot and after the break they went on without noticing the stuff they left behind.......!! hide Certainly in BLMC times..........

Lot of opportunity with an old Morgan - I remember going round the factory a few times in the 80's. They had a LOT of tea breaks.....

And there's always the 'Friday afternoon' special smile

I think you are hooked already, spending hours getting the underside treated etc., you will find all the little annoyances and niggles just melt away when you get those summer days, roof down and having a great blast......not something you have experienced yet, if you like a Morgan in the depths of winter, just wait till the spring comes. There is nothing to compare IMHO with a Morgan....it will get under your skin.

Thanks for the reply.

Is this something you have added? How is it fixed / what does it look like?

I hope this make it more clear!

I was at Krazy Horse today and saw one of these leather protectors on a CX Plus Four, so did a bit of digging. Ruut's picture shows the part Morgan fitted to earlier CX cars. It is a metal bracket, with a thick saddle leather cover rivetted to the bracket. It is attached to the back of the seat using the same bolt as the seatbelt guide. They are still in stock at the factory, £37 each side. They come in black, brown or tan leather. I ordered a couple, which I'll fit on mine.

KH weren't sure why Morgan stopped installing them, perhaps something to do with the revisions to seat design around 2022, or cost savings.

My Morgan is a late 2022 produced PlusFour, purchased new in 2023. It has Comfort Plus seats. I don't know why they stopped with it. @Joske from TalkMorgan bought an early 2020 PlusFour, but without these saddle leather covers. So I don't know the answer!

When I asked Matt Hole MD MMC why they had stopped fitting them the reason given was, when the car was submitted for type approval it did not have them fitted. Consequently to factory fit them on production cars would contravene the type approval.
As stated the parts required are available from MMC.
