Generally dictated by which side the crown is on.

Thought is that you should wear a watch on your non-dominant arm (which I don't agree with but that is the thought); so left handed people would wear their watch on the right hand.

So a left-handed watch would have the crown on the left side of the watch because the 'crown should point towards the persons fingers'.

And yes, there a lot of watches sold that offer the crown on the left side of the case, rather than the more common right side.

Thank you Simon. When I wore a watch, it was on my right arm as I'm corrie-fisted..

Clemens,
I had a major heart attack ten years ago and have 8 stents!! I made a quick recovery aided by the use of an ebike. I was given a maximum heart rate of 110 while recovering which I monitored by use of a fitbit watch when out cycling, If my heart rate got to 90, I upped the power of the ebike and all was well. Some 6 months after the heart attack my cardiologist remarked on what he said was a recovery well ahead of expectations and I told him about my ebike wich allowed me to exercise while knowing i wasn't overdoing it. He now recommends the use of an ebike to all his post heart attack patients!!!
I wish you a speedy recovery.
Regards from Ireland

The Apple Watch can be used on right or left, it just flips the screen so the controls stay on the hand side.

Trying on the Rolex Land-dweller at the Rolex corner during the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans. A very beautiful watch, I love this 70s style... but out of my budget getcoat

I tend to wear my TAG Heuer Formula 1 On a daily basis. When my wife and I got married we bought each other watches, hers was an SEL TAG and mine A 6000 TAG. At the time I was working in the NHS and on its first day at work I scrubbed for an operation in theatre. I took my watch off and left it where all those who scrubbed would leave watches, rings etc, this was common practice. After the several hours of operating I went to pick my watch up....... Yep, it had gone! I Made all the usual enquiries of the staff present and the theatre reception to see if it had been handed in but nobody had seen it! The next day I had a strange phone call saying my watch had been left in the theatre reception and no one knew who had handed it in... just appeared on the managers desk. 'How did you know it was mine' I asked, Well its got your name on it came the reply. My wife, an Anaesthetist, Had had our surname engraved into the case side of the watch! I guess the thief noticed this on a later inspection so decided to take the safest route out.
It was in the late 90's and TAG were at the height of their popularity. How ever it stopped me wearing it to work again. In the mid 2000's we moved to our current house and years of renovation work began, I didn't want to damage the watch so for a few years wore a swatch watch. One day whilst out shopping we came across a jewellers having a sale and a Formula 1 TAG in the window was reduced, I said to my wife I'm too old to be wearing Swatch watches and went in and bought it! Straight away it was put to hard use and I have hammered it! I still couldn't bring myself 'to wear/damage the 6000 and after 20 years of ownership I bought a second identical F1 watch as by then It was being discontinued and I'd got used to it on my wrist.
When my son reached 18 I gave him my TAG heuer 6000 , that was 5 years ago now and he wears it every day and of course his name is engraved on the side of the case as it always has been, Kismet perhaps!
My daughter who is 2 years younger, on reaching her 18th birthday we bought her a Tudor Rose watch!

I like watches.... not all, but that goes for everyone! What watch should you wear... well the one you most want of course! But, and here's the but! No one will notice what watch you are wearing. I guarantee that you can wear a Rolex submariner all your life and you might, just might have had one person say to you 'Oh I see you've got a Rolex'
So remember when you are just about to pay for it... why are you buying it?

For me, I have only bought one further watch and that was in 2012. Then in my mid fifties I'd got to know quite a bit about the watch world, well the affordable world for me that is, And I had by then discovered that the best made watch for the money was an Omega..... NASA were definitely correct when they chose them for the luna program. Look up how they did it and why they chose Omega! Shortly before I bought my Omega, Omega had brought out the co-axial movement. This amongst the horologistic world is deemed as the finest movement ever made. The first of my collective decisions to look had been made, the second, I had inherited a gold seamaster from a close uncle.

And finally, I have always loved James Bond and from the time he started wearing Omega seamaster watches they had really grabbed my attention. I'd started to look at all the Bond special editions but when the planets aligned with the 50th anniversary with the co-axial movement I had to have one! OH YES! And guess what, I just can't allow myself to wear it! I swore I would never do that again but on several occasions I'd find myself with my arm thrashing about in an engine bay or in some ridiculous plumbing situation only to realise that I'd forgotten to take my limited edition Omega Seamaster off!!!@. ahhhhh! Looks like Fergus my son is up for another best watch then.... sooner or later. Ironically my wife treats my battered TAG formula 1 with the most reverence. Several times I have said to her that it's only my work watch, once I asked her why and she said "well it's your watch, it's a reflection of you and what you have achieved so to me it's the most special of any watch you have.
