I’m beginning to plan a tour to the Loire Valley and then meandering back to Caen. We don’t want to go to all the chateaux, we are interested in sightseeing, cafe life, and some scenic drives. Maybe we’d be there about a week. If anyone has an itinerary, ideas, routes, please oblige!

We were in Caen and the Loire Valley last June with 4 Morgans. We made a tour from the Netherlands to Normandy, Brittany and the Loire Valley, also based on experiences we had before. I have to look if I can find the route-files for you!

Marqueyssac Gardens, amazing views of the valley & Dordogne river below, and a cafe too, it's the correct side of France if you can factor it into the north / south route

When it comes to choosing restaurants, you should look in the following 3 guides :
- Guide Michelin (red)
Or
- Gault,et Millau (less selective than the Michelin guide)
- Maitre restaurateur (A label, issued by the government, guarantees that the restaurant uses fresh produce…)
