Hello. Can anyone help with a source for the push button dashboard switches
Mine is a 2011 Plus 4 with the plain ally type switches
One isn’t used and I want to add front spot driving lights. It may be just the actual switch is needed as the front button is present
Thanks

I think that button is there for air-con option. But even if you don't have air-con, if you press it when the heater fan is going, a yellow snowflake symbol lights up on the dash.
So although i have never studied the rear of it, I suspect switching contacts are present.

Beware on later models 2014 on, the switches are dumb momentary press ones, just providing a remote trigger for the actual latched switching electronically performed by the BCU. Similar action is performed by the fragile PCB on your model.

Good news though, there is redundant wiring in the main wiring loom dedicated to fog/spot lights to support the auxiliary light factory option. Blue/yellow wires terminating in bullet connectors should be found under the o/s front wheel arch looping across to n/s to provide switched feed to each lamp. Matching colour wire can be found behind the dash terminating in a connector to allow optional switch to be added. Typically this should be wired via a relay triggered by high beam for spots.

Check out this admittedly long thread thread here where there is more detailed advice to a TM member wanting to fit fog lights to his 2012 Plus 4.

I got mine from RS Components who offer them at reasonable prices.

Welcome to TM Haggispeed

If I understand correctly..... If you are considering reconfiguring a blank ‘aircon switch’ to a ‘spot switch’, you would probably have to be prepared to modify the pcb and it’s tracking. The switch is electrically and mechanically well integrated into the pcb.

Much better to bin the pcb grin2

Thanks all for the useful information. I had heard mention of a PCB, didn't realise it's just for the switch control, whatever happened to simple wiring
No aircon indicator on mine but I suspect probably identical to yours Roger.
So I may add them to the headlamp circuit or fit a separate switch which may be simpler. Will also look at what RS offer.
I haven't had a chance to get under and look at the harness yet.

Haggis, Have you tried pressing the switch on, with the heater fan off? Then switching the heater fan on. On my 2011 4/4, the blank switch then lights up. Same as Doug’s. As I guess it is wired to show aircon on if air conditioner is fitted. As Roger says the logic is in the circuit board. I looked into doing what you would like to do 10 years ago. I was told it can be done using a take off point on the board to control a relay but as the boards are somewhat fragile it was probably not a good idea, hence I did not pursue the mod.

Haggis, as Rog suggests re-purposing the redundant air con switch is essentially not feasible. Concentrating on your aim of adding spot lights, once you have located the redundant blue/yellow wires under the o/s wheel arch, after removing wheel and scrapeing back underseal, you have the solution to spot lamp wiring on front of car. You will likely find two blue yellow wires terminating in a double female bullet connector sprouting from the loom. One runs back to dash area and the other provides loop across to n/s wheel arch terminating on a single female bullet connector to feed spot lamp for that side. As mentioned above the other end of blue/yellow wire provisioned to feed both lamps will be found behind the dash tucked out of the way. I've included the well illustrated post from Dave relating to how and where he found the cable behind dash in quote below.

Let's pull it out a bit confused2

Removing the insulating tape sherlock

Revealing the three wires we've been looking for, sure looks like the fog light switch loom to me crazy2

[Linked Image]

The sub loom is quite long, it reaches the steering column cowl to the right tongue2

And all the way to the passenger side on the left winky

Hmmm, what's this then? confused

[Linked Image]

Oh silly me, I've got a switch for my front fog lights already! Interestingly it's a momentary switch innocent

And finally, Morgan has kindly provided the wiring for a useful second 12v power supply or USB charger socket joy

I'm going to call this evening’s casual investigations a blinding success woohoo

Please don't try and use the Air con switch on the 2006 - 2013 cars. The Integrated PCB panel is the achilles heel of this car and if you fry it you won't get a replacement, Even when they were available they were a whopping £6-700. The correct way is as Richard has said using the wiring that Morgan installed in their loom which was intended for that purpose..

Very well done and needed, Richard and you other assisting gentlemen!

BTW The aircon system has other design sadness which must eventually be sorted but I ran across that much more with later US cars where AC is
often standard.

The PCB trads, IMHO, are cursed. gloomy It deeply prejudices a limited production forever vehicle. They will have all eventually have to be
removed and rewired. They fly in the face of electrical diagnostics and repair. Wasn't there an enterprising tradster here on Talk Morgan who has
already done so? If I am referred to his posts that, and with permission, I will post his work to GoMoG for posterity. A tedious job but absolutely
necessary
