Many thanks for those numbers. Given the small number of countries that still drive on the left hand side of the road (righthand drive cars) that a number of the Plus Sis models were left-hand drive vehicles.

Thanks for the memories of the launch day - we ordered our Plus Six before the demonstators were available

Only 400 Plus Six sold in nearly four years? Either the Plus Four is eating the market of the bigger brother, or it is quite off the sales target,

Massive slump in UK car sales overall due to C19

UK vehicle sales

Being a RHD Plus Six owner in the UK, the rarer the pre MY23 P6s are, the better it is for me. This should keep the second hand prices relatively buoyant due to the laws of supply and demand.
About 150 RHD P6s in the UK is not a lot, and the pricing of the MY23 cars may make them even rarer going forward, which may again work in their favour.

My question as to the number of Plus Six produced in the original variant was largely for information – 397 is an interesting figure. But you make a very good point as the used vehicle values in the future – not that I want to sell our car. At my stage of life I need the thrill of the power and acceleration! Our cars are now well-sorted with the SSL suspension and improved brakes – a great drive, and a rather special buy if and when we want to sell.

Any update on this? Google is a bit vague, saying 100-150 still registered in the UK, but no total production.

That seems a small proportion of 2019 to early '25 Morgan output, despite the Covid disruption.

I'm not too worried about future spares availability for major mechanical items, as the power train was more widely used and I assume many parts are also used on plus fours (switch gear, much of the wiring loom etc.). But some parts, like suspension, alu tub, windscreens, hoods (brakes?) may not be shared with anything else and had some variation through the production run. I guess body panels and interior trim are unique?

Does anyone know, is the factory generally good at keeping stocks, or remanufacturing parts as needed?

The factory have been patchy on spares at least since I was into Morgan. Even when I wanted some parts for my 2012 Plus4 in 2013, it took about six weeks. The Aeros are poorly covered on spares by the factory, so always keep that in mind going forward. Dealers are generally better focused at sourcing parts but not all dealers are the same.

Don't forget BMW has canned the Z4, but hopefully some of the same engine / driveline / ECU malarky is shared with other models by BMW

Interestingly, apparently BMW has no intention of making another Sports car to replace it, and the Toyota Supra is getting the boot as it shared the BMW platform & driveline

The B58 and 8 speed ZF is/was also used in the BMW '40' saloon and coupe models, some 35s too and the X5 and X7. But with a variety of different tuning. Probably tens of thousands built, with a very good reliability record, if looked after.

So, it's the bespoke Morgan bits that are exclusively P6 I expect will become more difficult. That includes the engine parts adapted to the P6 by Morgan, such as the cooling system. I also expect some of these will be the parts of the car more likely to require attention over time!

Nothing I can do, I'm happy enough to roll with it. I was just surprised how few may have been built, making the problem more likely.

Lack of spares is to be expected of low volume niche manufacturers who are reliant upon many different sources for major components in a very rapidly changing world of ever demanding environmental and legislative change in effect accelerating obsolescence.....it's only going to get worse come 2030, if the UK kills the ICE off and Morgan has to go electric.

They just don't have the capital to tie up in carrying a comprehensive stock holding of spares which may have been superseded eg PCB's incase at some point someone may want one. Plus they have no control over the continuing existence of their suppliers..........and whether the component and it's constituent parts can still be manufactured.
