A new thread. It's been a long time in the making. Contract completion was 1st May last year but the publisher has a lot of spinning plates.

So, expected release is 15th September, and today begins the process of final edit. I received the first draft cover layout this morning, which is chosen by the publisher, not me!

There is a typo on the second line which will be fixed.

I wondered the same, Googled the title, and found it on Amazon for advance purchase (delivery in September). But beware, they try to force you into Prime, if you don't use Amazon it is a way of tricking you into a one-time free postage offer, then hooking you with a monthly fee of £9 or so. As you can tell, I don't like Amazon, so gave up. Hence any clues from Dave will be welcome.

Yes buying from Amazon whilst avoiding joining Prime requires great vigilance. On every page of the checkout process they try to snare you. Finding the no Prime this time option requires good eyesight as well

Unless you want one of the rare unsigned copies, I would wait until publication. I am sure Mr W will make arrangements for a stock of signed copies to be made available for order a bit nearer the publication date.

From poor memory DW tied up with the lovely Sarah @ BHM for a launch/distribution last time around.

I don't do books, just hands on with dirty fingernails/injuries and online searches, horses for courses and I wish him well with the venture.

The book will be available from the publisher, Amberley, and the usual online book sellers. I will arrange some signed bookmarks as I did for the other book. I will also arrange a signing at BHM. Sarah is aware, and we decided to wait on the date, in case there's a delay.

Sadly, there is no easy way for me to get a stock of books and sign them here. After the signing, BHM will have a supply. I would be happy to do the same at other Morgan dealers, but last time it didn't happen. Not even sure if any other dealers stocked it.

The book is listed on the Ambeley website, under Morgan Cars. They also do a lot of niche transport, and historical books, so worth a scan. They sent me Jaguar XK history before I started, to see what the corporate style required. This series of car histories, is a storybook style, and in the end it seemed to work out well. As Juluan says, the long door era was, in the main, very stable and successful years at the factory.

I have ordered here blackwells.co.uk as they provide postage to France (as many countries) and it was very easy.

Got the first proof yesterday, so did a blitz on any typos. Quite good first pass, with only a few nips and tucks, and commas to insert.

Typo on Ch 6 to be sorted. We all have a book in us. You realise this? But translating that book into 'a book' faces huge obstacles. The first time, and I needed convincing, I had the right contacts which gave me a door which was ajar.

This time I got a poke from JohnV6 ^^^^ who had seen a request from the commissioning editor from Amberley, and After sitting on the fence a while, I decided to contact him just to see if we could make it work. He sent me a copy of the Jaguar XK book in the Amberley series, so that I could get a feel for the expectations. After some exploration of ideas, we settled on my era, the Long Doors. But this motoring series is not aimed at the practicalities, its more of a storybook of how things happen in the way they did and what was the outcome.

Yes the LM62 edition is covered. Colour images throughout, except for some early images.

I'm very pleased to see that...for reasons to be mentioned soon....

A quick update. It is now moving very fast. Publication is 16th September and the publisher is very keen to promote it. I have my copy and it's really nicely put together.

I supplied a sample of images to the publisher for the cover, and they chose red and yellow for the striking look, without knowing that they are my cars. Just saying!

Provisional date for signing at BHM is Saturday 19th September. To be confirmed soon.

I was blessed with some amazing photos, some of which have not been published before.

I've had made some bookmarks, and signed them, as I did with the first book. Both will be available on the day at BHM.

Just ordered my copy through Blackwells for postage to Australia. I also ordered Factory-Original MG T-Series by Anders Ditlev Clausager which hopefully will also be nice to read.

Hopefully I will be at Revival that day , but like Daves last book I guess I can order through BHM.

Thanks all! Up in Scotland right now. Did Fort Augustus South via Oban to Inveraray. Mostly empty roads except Fort William and Oban. But still a lot if camper vans around, and coaches.

Blackwell charged me for the MG T Series book when I did the order and it just arrived, now they have just changed me for "Modern Traditional Morgans" and sent me a tracking number which is showing nothing yet. I expect my book to arrive down under in a week or two.

Chris ... I have a mate who works for the Steam Packet Company ... I'll get him to shovel more coal !! 🙂

Delivery must be tedious .... bad enough in the N of Scotland ... can take a couple of weeks for some stuff .... I thought most of the Transport-Cafes were closed down, so who knows where the lorry drivers are finding to hide 🙂

I am not too worried, it will probably take another 10 day based on the previous book. 3 to 4 days to get from London to leaving the UK and then only a day or two to get here then another 4 to 5 days to get the last 300km after clearing Customs. To me it seems all the couriers blame Customs for the delays but generally things I order like books get though Customs within an hour or two of landing.

Amazon Australia are amazing, order by about midday and it arrives the next day. Each item shows on their website if it will get to your location by the next day or has passed the cut off. No idea how they get their couriers to be so organised when a letter within the same city can take a week.

I expect a lot of lorry drivers are sleeping in the back of their truck cab, we had a very nasty accident a few weeks ago, I think a sleepy truck driver pulled into a truck stop for a rest and ran into a few other trucks carrying flammable liquid and the whole lot went up, luckily no-one was hurt but the main highway was closed for a couple of days.

Ordered mine months ago, understood it is on its way to the Netherlands, I wonder how much import duties I need to pay.
