Gave up on Headley two years ago after a series of issues including a massive price hike. Now with Gott&Wynn & very happy.
Interesting point above on car values which I may need to take into account next month.

G&W for the last 5 years. Great service and competitively priced policy. Plus European cover at £22.

Iam also with G&W.on an agreed value basis. Last year, with my Morgan at 14 years old, I wondered whether it was worth continuing with agreed value, to save a few bob. Putting this idea to G & W, I was advised to continue as it would-not make any difference at all to the premium! I am no insurance expert, but I think the insurers’ main concern is injury to third parties in the event of an accident, claims for which will often far outstrip the cost of a car. Also postcode, which is used to identify areas of high claims due to theft.

Chaps, once again thank you for your help, the initial conversation with Peter James ( with the special MSCC policy ) started with the declaration that the policies were only for cars 40 years old or over, good job I hadn't just bought a new super sport then but I have managed to get my current provider down by by £100 plus by chatting so all is good, now we just need some petrol.

Just got my renewal from Admiral (multicover policy, home plus two cars). The home cover cost has gone down by roughly 10%, the cars had gone up by roughly 10%. I wasn't particularly happy with the EV cover (Volvo) which had gone up by 20% (the Mog went up less than 10%) and said I was thinking of looking elsewhere. Immediately the overall policy cost comes down by (again) roughly 10%. I know it's an annual game that I have to play.
The Mog insurance is £330, very reasonable IMHO for a Plus Six, agreed value, 5000 miles per year.
Spoke with Peter James Insurance who said their rates had gone up this year and given they quoted me over £800 last year would likely be more than double what I am paying. I know there are some advantages with the PJ policy, but the gap in cost just doesn't balance those advantages.
I'll give G&W a call but without any expectation.

Just had a very pleasant conversation with Jeremy at G&W. They can't get near the Admiral price, but they are significantly cheaper than PJ.
Jeremy did raise some interesting points, which may have been mentioned previously in the PJ column in Miscellany, worth noting again:
- windscreen cover, would the Admiral policy cover the full cost of a Morgan heated windscreen (I doubt it, but I've got a spare so not overly concerned). - salvage / repair, would Admiral want to use their preferred garage? - parking with hood down, does the Admiral policy cover theft of the car in this situation?
And I mentioned my experience of trying to get cover for the parade lap at Silverstone last year, Admiral don't cover that and the quotes I got were over £1,000 for the day with a £5,000 excess. The G&W policy covers track days, albeit the excess is 10% of the cost of any repairs.
Maybe at some stage I will go with G&W. Certainly I have a 'warm and fuzzy' feeling toward them after that one relatively brief discussion.

We are with Admiral for home & 2 cars. We have been very pleased with costs but last 2 years creeping up BUT so is my age. We had one car written off and one car hit on the same day on the same street, yards apart but 12 hours apart ! Admiral couldn’t get their head round my reporting of the accidents ( I could understand why) but were great. Happy with the write off amount and surprised they did the second somewhat old car …… MM PS keep saying we will shop about but never seem to have the time. Retirement seems so busy !

With G&W for over 20 years, no claims and no intention of changing. however I kinda baulked at the premiums on the other two cars, and while seeking to get the cheapest quote has never been my thing, I thought to try a company I have used before LV, and checked out putting both cars on a multicar policy.....OK so I dropped the former agreed value clause on the 991, and perhaps some other less important aspects of a classic policy but not much that I could detect.... Saved circa £900 on the 991. Halved the mileage limit on the Tesla to 5K and saved circa £900 on that...Both fully comp with breakdown cover, though suspect the savings might be eaten up somewhat as I found a slight bulge in the sidewall of one of the 911`s front tyres.... Still plenty of trad left on it, not sure if the pair require to be replaced due to all the on board digital driver aids...
