Yep, and I agree with the theory that you have a 2-seater cowl.

The cowl shape changed over time. And the 4 seater varies from the 2 seater. If the cowl is original it should work, but a replacement won't easily fit, because all cowls were tweaked for one car. Yes the 4 seater cowl is different to a 2 seater.
