On YouTube, then a link? smile

When my car was tested at MOG007 at Goodwood, it registered 97db at 4,500 revs (I cheated a bit on the revs and it was in fact nearer 4,000+). Another Aero with rear-sports exhausts registered 96db, so we were both well within the noise limit for the day. flag

I'll try to upload a sound file, but might be a couple of wks.

I'll see if I could somehow turn up at one of the TD venues just to get a sound check confused2

I assummed it was a straight thro., then Rick show me his design which was exactly identical to my sketch shocked2

My main concern with the sportpipe is its bassnote and rumbling sound may transmit into the interior and ended up boomy and intrusive and ultimately tiring if you travelling over long distances, I took that chance and glad to report that there was no boominess in the interior during the 1 1/2hr drive back.

Soundwise....At idling, its quite, very slight rumble(bearly detectable), but as soon as gas is applied, the sound it emits can only be described as music to the ears(cliche I know), it just woofles with a nice clean bass, pops and bangs were more obvious and slightly louder, under hard acceleration, the bass note seem to have disappeared and was replaced with burbling/flatulent sound confused2(the flatulent sound was less obvious at low speed than the std sidepipe).
There were no discernible differece at motorway speeds on part throttle.
I'm well please with the result considering this was JP first attempt, its louder overall, but for all the right reasons woohoo
Price? £150each thumbs

Cereal, I asked Rick about your header, he could only give me a rough estimate £5-£600 each side shocked2

Great result.... I bet you managed to shed a few KG's as well looking at it. JP have also managed to get the larger pipe on the exit of the silencer by making the box a little shorter...nice. For £150 each that's pretty good value.

Thanks for asking about the exhaust headers... other than the price did he comment on the OEM parts at all?

When my car was tested at MOG007 at Goodwood, it registered 87db at 4,500 revs (I cheated a bit on the revs and it was in fact nearer 4,000+). Another Aero with rear-sports exhausts registered 86db, so we were both well within the noise limit for the day. flag

Interesting. I'll host the sound file if you don't want to worry about it - just send me a mail with it attached and I'll do the rest.

Interesting info Aeroman abotu the rear sports pipes - I was told this would pretty much preclude me from track days. It does seem loud (especially in tunnels!) but I've certainly heard a lot louder cars. Difficult to know. Perhaps the 105db claims are unjustified - certainly it's not massively louder than the sidepipes and if yau're seeing 87 or thereabouts thats prety much ok for just about any circuit..

I didn't weigh them, but have picked it up before, reckon on at least half the weight! £150 WAS definitely cheap by any standard, but it was a bit of a deal as it was very much a prototype, he readily admits that the silencer was still slightly rough as he was expecting me to come back to him and have it modify further...

He has also kept my std silencer for a few more days, so that he could make a jig, I expect him to charge £175-£200 mark, but you're not supposed to know that, if any of you were interested, just say I said it was £150 wink

Cereal, best if you actually speak to him(Rick) direct, as I'm not sure what I'm talking about confused2

As you know mr_tony from your car, the exhaust note on Aero's, and it's especially true with sidepipes, is at its noisiest under hard acceleration and also at the top of the rev range. I presume that this is probably something to do with the double-vanos system which also adjusts the timing of the exhaust cams. confused2

When the revs settle at a particular level, such as 4/4,500 revs, the exhaust noise dies back and becomes much quieter which is what happened at Goodwood which was a stationary check. If they had done a drive-past noise test on the start/finish straight I am sure the Aero's reading would have come out much louder. frown

Maybe our Gyver can come out with something more technical on this? flag

Just comeback from a bit of evening drive, only then I remember I should have recorded the sound, so I got my digital camera out, car parked on driveway, very dark, but the recorded sound is REALLY bad, think I might have placed the camera to close to the pipe, either that or the mic could not handle the low frenquency confused2 you could also just about hear the pops and bangs as well...

Click on the frame

I'll try to do better next time

I can just about imagine your camera like a little "mobley" from the advert....

As you start the car... he's blasted into the bushes with ringing ears

lol
