Hello, I had an opportunity to rent a Plus Four last year for my birthday and loved it, and finally pulled the trigger and ordered a Supersport earlier this year in the hope of making every journey a bit more enjoyable.

I picked the Supersport up on Tuesday, it was great driving back home, and have since had the opportunity to take the side screens off with the glorious weather in the UK at the moment.

Looking forward to learning more about the community and enjoying the drive. Hope this link works for the images, I went a slightly different specification than most, as I preferred the black accent pack but the silver wheels / chrome detailing. Well done JP, I think your spec is perfect, I'm planning on getting lottery tickets tonight, fingers crossed there'll be another BlackPack Supersport on the road soon!

Blimey delivery in a few months…..gone are the days of long waits. Don’t like the look of the Supersport but in truth your colour way looks great on the car.

Personally, I think it looks superb with the silver wheels.

I was recently having a chat with a friend about 'black packs' and specifically, black painted wheels. Scroll back, a decade or more, and they would have been a box I'd almost certainly have ticked on any new vehicle; however, with age, I've gravitated away from them and now don't like the look. Perhaps it is the myriad of giant SUVs that they seem the defacto wheel choice for or perhaps it is how awful they look when the rim catches the kerb (no matter how careful you are!) but I commend the black pack with silver wheels choice!



Good to hear that you've been making the most of the good weather. If you haven't already, top down, early evening (or even late) is another magical time to enjoy your Morgan.

That is without a doubt the best colour i have seen on a supersport, it certainly suits its shape. I have to say the supersport has never worked for me, as I cant live with the front end lower design and the rear deck angle, now having said this, your cars colour certainly lifts the side profile, plus its a convertible, another big plus. Well done. enjoy the car you will love it.

Again I'm a bit of a luddite and going back to my reasons for buying a classic were the old fashioned drive feel but with the confidence of a reliable enough drivetrain to give assured trips out. I have to marvel at the Bugatti owners, on a club trip out, it reminds one of the London to Brighton rally with many stopped at the roadside effecting repairs or adjustments of one kind or another........... not for me on the roads of today! And these cars often costing or worth six figure sums!

Re. the new generation Morgans, although not for me, It cannot be denied that MMC have pulled their socks up in all areas of design and production and the cars will undoubtedly appeal to more in the market place of today than the classics. MMC do however need to concentrate on spares and repair in a much better way than previously if they want to retain their new market. Yes their idea of more innovation in model design and limited runs keeping up interest comes at a price for both the manufacturer and the owner and their spares facilities will need much more thought especially for the long term .... well, you don't own and buy a Morgan for the short term do you whatever price point you are at in the market. Hopefully the frustration of the Aero owners seeking parts will have taught them a lesson in this area. Modern manufacturers make spares available for 10 years after production stops on a model. This is absolutely useless in the case of Morgan when a lot of customers are often entering with a car of this age.

They also need to have an arrangement with BMW that drivetrain issues will be seen and addressed at their dealerships having at least one tech who has been given training at Morgan. This would enable the new age Morgan owner to have access to a national network to sort out the most likely and easily rectifiable issues that may occur. I have shopped BMW dealerships asking if they could help with an engine problem and the response is..... NO we only deal with BMW cars.
Recovery services may look happily at older generation Morgans but even the newer classics they will only want to recover and with the present spread of Morgan dealers, Recover to where?

Going back 50 years my first was a 1959 4/4 Series 2. I was 22/23 and had great fun even though the 1172 cc engine would take half a day to get to 60. But it had an Elva OHV conversion which helped. Hard to believe today when I look at my current 2005 Plus 4. I have had conversations with a dealer about the huge prices today and subsequent maintenance costs. No DIY for sure. How many Morgan dealerships are capable of working on BMW drive trains and electrics?

Strathaven, I do wonder at in the automotive world that even main dealerships may strip and repair engines or gearboxes on modern vehicles, which may have been the case for over a decade or so...?
As for digital system fault finding, I suspect unless it can be pointed to via plug in code readers, then again there may be little in the way of real expertise found at main dealers...?
There are a few vids out there on the failings of the German car industry`s ability to resolve software issues, which if true seem shocking...

I suspect it may be somewhat easier to find a good independent trader who specialises in the marque of whatever engine and or drive train is fitted to your Morgan to discuss servicing and repair...?
I type this thinking that there may be few options for Morgan skilled technicians in your area...
Perhaps worth a chat with any JockMog members who may run the same era Morgan...?

I meant to respond! There is an interesting guy who runs an unconventional garage and MOT station. He starts work at 4.00 am, and was able identify the issue with gear changes on my MX5 last year when I could not select any gear. He replaced the slave cylinder and bingo. Only charged £120. So he is taking the Plus 4 tomorrow but I need to be there from 6.00. He has had one or two before me. Will keep you posted. Incidentally he gets amazing customer feedback.
