Thanks. Yes, I know Colin. I am running a Cayman now which is under the Porsche warranty so I am rather tied to OPC.There have been some changes in personnel in OPC Glasgow. Have you used them since the change? I bought the Cayman from OPC Edinburgh and I have to say that their service was excellent.
Great that you know Colin already. Finding a mechanic/tec you can trust is somewhat comforting.
My 991 will drop out of the Porsche Extended Warranty system on a time basis later this year, thus until then I am tied by the contract also.
I had it in at the OPC for a maintenance and PDK oil change and service, couple of rear brake pipes and rear pads were supposedly close to needing attention, so just had it all done at the one time.
Have to admit to not being impressed with OPC in terms of discussing or arranging servicing. While it was in for a service the drive belt tensioner was reported as requiring replacement...I had it replaced when I first bought the car as a precaution, thus was surprised to be told it required replacement again having only covered circa 6k miles since it was last replaced ...Further to that, the tensioner is not covered under the extended warranty, which I checked with Porsche Cars GB...!
The PDK oil change was required on a time basis, thus had that done at the same time. the rear brake pads and short brake pipes were suggested to be worth of keeping an eye on, thus just had them replaced along with the brake fluid change...
Perhaps a few months later the high level brake light had a couple of failed LEDs and I noted that one of the front tyres had a small sidewall bulge, still plenty of tread on the tyres...!!! The rear tyres were 7 years old, again plenty of tread.... But decided to bite the bullet and replace all four.... Phoned OPC could not get through to the service adviser, was asked by the receptionist if she could get him to call back..some weeks later still not had that call returned..
With the MOT due, I ordered the brake light bar at the OPC and picked it up from there... Cheaper from the OPC than on line from Design 911..! Chased the spiders off my toolkit and replaced the high level brake light myself
Guess you can draw your own conclusions as to my thinking on the service I received...
