The hydraulic tappets are easily disassembled for inspection and cleaning; after reassembly, I put them in a sealed container filled with oil and I create a vacuum to purge them and allow them to fill with oil.

Bleeding the hydraulic tappet makes the initial engine start-up easier with easy start exhaust camshafts.

Some purging tools can create a complete vacuum with 8.5 bar of pressure; I measured it with a pressure gauge. The tool is readily available on AliExpress.

The internal parts of the hydraulic tappet should certainly be identical to other tappets with different external dimensions.https://ibb.co/gZqwWyB1

The garage is AutoSimba in Lisbon. The engine had starting issues during the last 1,5 years, worsing every time and not actually starting since October. The garage had just diagnosed the same in another M3W which is also currently stationed and also waiting for a supplier for those tappets. It seems both should have the same issue, the garage read 0 compression at both cylinders as I have been told so they believe that should be the problem, as the other M3W has a disassembled engine and only then they identified malfunctioning tappets.
My M3W is currrently at around 12500kms, bought it with 11500kms in 2021.

The M3W S&S has easy start camshafts which hold the tappets open until about 400 rpm and then a centrifugal mechanism switches to normal operation.. If your garage is doing a standard compression check on the stationary engine then zero compression is correct.

Other than Chris's correct easy start cam explanation, I think it is highly unlikely that both cylinders would be indicating exactly the same problem ASPINTO. If the garage is unaware of how the system works they will be rebuilding a lot of X-Wedge engines for nothing, good for their profits but not so good for owners.

I think that just because of a crankshaft sensor or something else, your repairman is telling you that your engine needs to be disassembled. You should change establishments as soon as possible. With the camshafts and decompression valve, you need to measure the cylinder sealing (air leaks with valves closed), or it might be a regional X-Wedge pandemic.

Do you know if AutoSimba checked the ecu with Protune for fault codes?
