It's hardly an overnight thing is it ?

A quick look through Car and Classic over the last 3 years the decline in all Classics has bombed.

Indeed, and I'm struggling to see why this is supposed to be a bad thing, it opens up the opportunity to own nice cars to more people.

That really is the important thing that more people get to enjoy the fun. When I am asked about the cars I go to great lengths about the falling prices.

My expectation has never been to make or even retain money on a Morgan, or indeed any classic car. Or pretty much any form of transport (think horses, boats and aircraft !) The only things I think I have successfully earned money from are investments in education and bricks and mortar. That being said, if you offered even silly money for my 4/4 you would not buy it, as it has non monetary value to me. On the other hand, the Seat Leon 1.5 PHEV I have has probably lost 10k in the last year, and given that it is stuffed full of pretty crappy and unecessary software you could have it for tuppence.

Don't forget that £39.500 is still an enormous amount of money - well in excess of the national average salary. It you combined the values of my Mog, MG, 2 x Harleys and Kawasaki I'd still be over £10K shy of that amount.

Completely agree, and any earnings on the house are largely irrelevant as I'll probably never reap any benefit unless I have to release equity in my dotage.

My education has cost me a bit over the years, but have had the benefit of an amazing career which may not have had the best financial rewards, but more than made up for it in fulfilment and self worth.

Classic cars dropping in value, ICE issues, cost of living, world uncertainty and I can perhaps understand .

Off topic but it was mentioned above

What I have never understood is houses getting older and older and values rising stupidly . Mine has gone up 7500% in 44 years , Equity in your hose might make you feel good , especially on paper but it’s somewhat meaningless.
No benefit to us unless we do something. Stay and house block, downsize as we rattle and use so few rooms, 5 toilets as we anre full of……
Equity release or just move next to Rich+8 ho ho ho !!! Not happy for my headstone to say, should have sold the house before…..this. Cannot wait for some party to reduce or remove stamp duty.

Housing policy is something that needs serious thought .

I wonder if the new owner knows just how much of a bargain they've got.

If I remember correctly, Peter had done a lot of work on the car, notwithstanding the invisible work on the electrics and the visible upgraded headlamps with day running lights. There's also SSL suspension on there... Peter is an engineer at heart, so who knows what other fettling has gone on!
