Facing the inevitable I have at some point to consider whether or not to cash in one or two investments in exchange for four wheels. (Or Five).. With my knees feeling their limitations I have to admit I have this tricky balancing act between Plus Four or Bright Red Mobility Scooter with power boost. I have dabbled with the MMC configuration site but can't for the life of me find a configuration site for a scooter that might help me decide (without mounting the pavement).

The MMC site seems unable to add overriders or bumpers to the otherwise attractive image here. I wonder whether or not that option is still on the table.

Odd but confirmed overriders or full bumpers are not shown as options on configurator. Thinking about it I don't recall seeing a CX with them. Could it be such are not conducive with chassis construction

The CX chassis doesn't have an option of overriders or full bumpers. I don't know why, but MMC have been 'cleaning up the lines' (think of the multi-functional front and rear lights, rather than, for example, separate indicators) for the last few years. If you need them I'd ask one of the dealers if they can retrofit a set of overriders. Williams said to me that they should be able to do it when I first looked at a Plus Four, but now I prefer the 'clean lines'.

Bumpers not overriders suit the traditional models to my eyes , as does the clean looks of my 4/4 Sport.

Somehow we have moved away from the cluttered lines of badge bars and spotlights and I far prefer the lines.

My trad doesn't have bumpers or over riders, I prefer the cleaner look. Mobility scooter OMG never for me.

I prefer the uncluttered style. My Plus8 had overriders,badge bar. I removed most badges ( rad airflow improvement). I was considering removing the overriders but left them. A bit extra protection for low speed bumps. A friend has a Plus Six and it needs a new wing after a relatively slow bump from another car. Factory repair set up. The front indicator was hit and damaged plus it pushed into the wing distorting it around the indicator. The lower valance screw fixing was damaged so that needs replacing. Indicator lens only had a crack but a whole new unit was needed £100) as the lens was a push fit with lugs.
A bumper or overrider MIGHT have saved some damage provided it's mounting onto the chassis wasn't a problem.
Swings and roundabouts re extent of damage and costs! Chassis damage =££££££

The overrider debate has distracted us from the shocking 'mobility scooter or not' dilema...............!!!🤦🏻‍♂️😂
Are you thinking of an auto plus four to replace your 4/4.....????
There are some 'good value' used options if you want to save a few quid or free up some money for a scooter..............🤦🏻‍♂️👴🏻😁
But, I can see the 'value' in speccing up 'your' car and seeing it being built...👍🏼

I looked at second hand Plus Fours for six months and failed to find one that met with my approval. And more important, met with the approval of Mrs F.

We therefore ordered a new one. We now have a car that is exactly what we wanted and we got to see it in build and to speak to some of the wonderful people who built the car. These are all things that you cannot put a price on.

We do not have children. One day, our executor will have the problem of selling the car- hopefully by then showing signs of careful enjoyment over many 10's of thousands of miles. Not our problem. If it has to be sold before then, we will aim to sell it to someone who will use it and take what we can get for the car - hopefully enough for two mobility scooters- both with overdrive!!

That’s a great sum up of the key feature of a new Morgan, Paul. getting exactly what you want and being able to see your own car being built simply isn’t available these days. My wife and I both felt exceptionally well treated and valued as customers, it would break my heart to part with it, such was the pleasure of buying it. Cherish the memories you make with it, use it to full.

The Plus Four didn't get a good start in life, plagued with early revisions to seats, hood, radiators and brake recall, clearly demonstrated the lack of development and spoiled the reputation of an otherwise excellent car. When it came to buying a CX, I wasn't totally convinced that I would feel happy to put £80/85k into a new car especially with the possible reliability issues and rampant depreciation they were experiencing. Plus the loss of the traditional wood veneer covered dashboard and wooden steering wheel was just too far a step for me at the time, so I went for one of the later MY22 cars, post the recall production.

I really like the specification of my used car,I feel like I'm sitting in a traditional Morgan with wire wheels, wood and leather everywhere but much better built and it would have been exactly what I would have ordered from new, but now acquired just 3 years old with only 825 miles, but a massive saving on list running into many tens of thousands. So happier bunny all round, especially so, if I got it terribly wrong,due to my back and left leg issues with the clutch and footwell size I experienced in other Morgans. In effect getting out of the car was under those circumstances (with a used car) was much less of a hit..to my pride and pocket. I should have had a little more faith in Morgan....

I can understand how special the purchasing experience at Malvern is, our car is being serviced by Malvern and it is that little bit more special and personal dealing with the guys who build them. The cleaner look to the Morgan is growing on me, the Supersport in some of the latest colour schemes I've seen are very tempting and the car seems to be regaining that reliability it truly deserves especially considering its such a hand built product. Prehaps we are starting to get the quality of product matched with the performance and handling that a Morgan has always deserved.
