Hello everyone. I’ve spent a day reading the forums and trying to get a little bit more
up to date with the lovely Morgan world.

I owned a Roadster for eight years, but have been without one for a while because
I got involved with flying and building a plane with my flying
instructor. I have really missed owning a Morgan and being part of such a great community.

I’m looking at a CX model tomorrow. It’s had a swill box fitted to the radiator. I
believe this comes with a two year warranty. I’m been told
Morgan now supply a revised radiator which is a different design.

May I ask has anyone had the swill box fitted which has subsequently failed
requiring a replacement?

I’ve been out of the Morgan community but I’m guessing the radiator issue might have been
a significant problem for many new owners.

Any advise or comments would be much appreciated.

The swirl pot is to mix the two different streams of hot water before it hits the rad. Reducing thermal shock. Any replaced rad has a 2year warranty but cx owners are thinking of challenging that as a know defect

Not all radiators fail. Mine is a MY23 Plus Six, with the original radiator and no issues. Others have had multiple failures. I'd do some due diligence on the history of the car and what has needed to be replaced, and when.

I have just come back from a very enjoyable CX group holiday in Kent. c 400 miles driven in high temps with no issues for the car or for the other 7 cars.
Bottoming on unven rutted roads yes but otherwise fine & with 45 mpg as well.

John, I really enjoy my CX, and would only consider swopping it for a Supersport if I was getting another Morgan. On a local 60 mile round trip to get Sue's favourite icercream down mainly country roads I saw an everage 58.8mpg whilst maintaining the average 50mph camera controlled speed limit.......can't ask for more than that for the size and power of the engine. The wIre wheel clonking is an annoyance but I'll just deal with accordingly and if it requires alloys, then alloys it is and from what I've been lead to believe it's an even better car ride on the alloys.

For the driving and the slightly better cabin-feeling I would absolutely go SuperSports, for the charm: PlusFour
But for me a Trad 4/4 would be just fine

asked about the radiator problem. It is not the radiator that is the root of the problem. but the solution is updated software. On updated Morgan the coolant valve is always 40% open to avoid heat shock when the valve is opened 100%. BMW cars have an air intake before the radiator that opens gradually

Good evening . My plus four radiator has been changed 5 times even with the swirlpot installed. The swirlpot has never felt down. Since the software update 2 years ago i have no leak but wait and see. The best solution is know but to expensive to be done under waranty now.
Maybe later . When this last update will be done on all plus four the selling of second hands plus four will increase.
