TMers.
Having just watched Bangers and Cash reference the Plus 8 rebuild, one of the comments was that a plate should have been welded under the side light. Good idea, but instead of welding I was thinking of using a strong glue. You know the stuff that MMC use for clueing the chassis onto the cars today. Any idea of a good clue?

I've used JB Weld Superweld Extreme for metal stuff - it's more like a superglue than the epoxy stuff

Don't know if they still make it but Araldite was the popular two pack epoxy for metals in my kit of travel spares

Smack it under there with a layer of Soudal Carbond ... grips like a starving alligator but never fully hardens so won't crack.

On later superform wings the upper mount bracket is secured with six flush mount rivets in the area of the sidelight mounting. I would imagine slightly forward of bracket, shown looking from behind, to place it at highest point on wing. Kevin, the chap who rebuilt what was to become my Trad +8 reinforced the underside of the hand formed alloy front wings, not only under the sidelight/stay mounting point, but glued rubber matting to the area where stones can hit hard enough to deform the alloy and cause star like cracking of the paintwork..

In the past, I have successfully used the lead replacement flashing stuff that roofers use around chimneys stick to the underside of wings to prevent stone rash and star cracks. Comes in a role from Jewsons.
Here for a good time not a long time!!

Metal bonding adhesive will be fine as long as you make sure the reinforcing piece follows the profile of the wing area you are strengthening as it retains an amount of flexibility, if not you could create a worse amount of point loading than the item being fixed. If you can't achieve this then JB weld would be a better choice as it will profile the reinforcing piece accurately to the area applied.
