I was fortunate to encounter the real thing at Chantilly a few years ago, super rare I think less than a handful built, IIRC magnesium alloy body hence the rivets

I recall spending several weeks at Woodnorton on a BBC residential induction course in 1969. Understand it's now a posh hotel.

It is indeed a posh hotel these days, we are going for a special evening with the Michelin starred chef Glynn Purnell aka the yummy brummie, for a special menu dinner on Friday, to celebrates Sue's birthday. So the sauage sandwich on route at Morgan will keep us going till the evening meal.

A bit of the original buildings history.

Going back all the way to 1872, the estate was purchased as hunting grounds for the exiled French Duc d’Aumale. The hall as it stands today was completed by Duc d’Orleans, who later inherited the estate. In 1898, the Duc d’Orleans came to live at the Wood Norton with his wife and used it as a mini Palace with liveried footmen and many servants.

In 1907, the Royal Wedding of Princess Louise of Orleans (Duc d’Orleans sister) and Prince Charles of Bourbon took place at the Wood Norton. Royalty from across Europe, including King Alfonso of Spain and Queen Amelia of Portugal were special guests. The family lived here until 1912 when they moved back to France

The BBC’s Training Centre

The BBC bought the Wood Norton in 1939 as part of a drive to relocate core functions outside urban areas in the event of hostilities. By 1940, it was one of the largest broadcasting centres in Europe with a series of temporary buildings set up on the grounds. It was the home of the BBC's Monitoring Service and a secret base of operations.

After the war, the Wood Norton became the home of the BBC Engineering Training Department, now the BBC Academy. This made it a convenient filming location, and the Wood Norton starred in a number of BBC productions, most famously in Doctor Who on two separate occasions.

In 1980, the BBC sold the Wood Norton and it was transformed into a country house hotel and conference centre. Since 2012, our current owners and operations team have refreshed the Wood Norton to bring it back to its full glory.

Absolutely, and I like the interior with Teak too. The only things that stick out to me are as on the other CX- those external mirrors, there must be a nicer option.

Must admit to being underwhelmed by the Midsummer ... expected more of Pininfarina (after all they designed my first car ... an A40! 🙂) .... this addresses the things I didn't like about the car and resolves the design nicely ... would like to see one in the metal (though unlikely up here! 🙂)

Was it developed by Morgan's in-house team?

With reference to Simon`s recent post with a few images of selected areas of the latest Midsummer, perhaps a bit like a stripper the aim is to maintain interest before the big reveal...? (-:
