Switzerland Pics
An eventful trip. From being stopped at a police check point to swimming in a mountain stream (yes it was hot !), we had a great time. The car never missed a beat over 1600+ miles and the only issue we had was a sticky throttle actuator, (made life interesting doing 4500rpm going down the Susten pass !). The Alfa died on Day 5 and was successfully repatriated with driver. The e-Type died on last day with similar repatriation. The Porsche limped home !
I will post a couple of final pics in a new thread along with details/experience of the train to Innsbruck.

Must read more slowly and engage brain, complete numb nut re WC Chris Swiss trip. I thought he was catching a car train to Düsseldorf which seemed a bit north. Anyway two other simple low load flat wagon car trains I have enjoyed and Chris may have used both as he has been to Austria and Slovenia but these are fun and can save time but fun is key. Having enjoyed the fairytale castle Neuschwanstein, drove via Innsbruck and onward to Zell am See, to relive glory days at a Schloss, an unexpected base for a ski vacation. To my surprise it was now a Porsche hotel, Schloss Prielau . Manager Snooty as **** until I showed him some pictures of the magnificent inside before they bought it . Anyway late on onward and we found ourselves driving rather swiftly to catch the last car train from Bockstein near Bad Gastein to Malinitz, saves 100k minimum and a lot of ongoing roadworks on the A10/E55. Nice route for a change, but you get out of the car and go in a carriage.
The other car train is from Bohinjska Bistrica to Most na Soci. which is fun as you sit in the car, it’s very Disney and people flash lights, wave cigarette lighters, horns going and the odd one possibly have sex ! Also saves a hard drive through the mountains . Be WARNED, again had to dash to the station, got there with 10 minutes to spare and watched the train leaving the station……the station manager looked at his watch and indicated it was only approximate !
Anyway glad Chris did not have his car repatriated like some of his mates. Best MM & thanks Rich for all your posts especially the cars & girls !

Hi Mike - hopefully you have found the detail on the train etc. As I said, it is “an experience” and nothing like the days of French Motorail. My parents used to take us to Italy on holiday and it was so exciting as a young boy to visit the yards of the Gare de Lyon to load the car, sleep in a couchette compartment and wake up in the snow covered Alps on the way to Milan. This was very different but as I said, being in Innsbruck less than 24hrs after leaving the UK was a tremendous help to making this trip work. The advantages as regards Slovenia are very clear as you well know, and it may worth dipping your toe in the water and trying it next time. If you want a chat about it just let me know and we can sort something out.
