P6 especally pre MY23 have quite a crash record, hence when I was looking at a pre MY23 P6 and P4 insurance quotes the premium load on the P6 was almost double the P4.,I had interesting chat with Gott and Wyne about it at the time It's worth looking especially on ebay for the number and frequency of damaged repaired Morgan of all sorts offered for sale at any one point in time....more common than you would think

I think John has the most likely answer. It is to do with numbers, so the fewer models there are, the less data they can use, and they assume it is a safer car than a similar but less powerful and less valuable model.

BTW, I only have 3 months left on this policy, so it wasn't worth cashing it in, better just to pay the small extra premium for a quiet life.

Liability is likely the main payout for a car insurance company, yes there will be many more 'property damage' claims but the high level of compensation from one 'injury' claim will swamp numerous repair claims. And liability is going to be the same irrespective of the power of the car. So it's down to how likely the liability claim will be. Repairability is another issue, but I assume that's roughly the same for any trad Morgan.
