I agree GL, removing the shocks to adjust is a drawback of the koni's. But they are not a bad shock so I want to at least give them a good run until I go for the EVO's again. Cheers J

Hi JJW, are you sure there is no split in the bump stop? I have KONIs on my 4/4 and have adjusted them OK. Push the rubber bump stop down the shaft, well clear of the top dust cover using a screw driver, or some other rod, through the two holes in the dust cover (clearly showing in your original pic). The worst part of the job is actually removing the units, particularly from the rear axle, as there is very little clearance. Just double check you have both shocks on each axle adjusted to the same degree before you refit them!!! (I still have the instruction sheet from KONI- I could email it to you, if you like. GerryWal.

Hi Gerrywal, I did, and no it wasnt cut. These must be different dampners. I have now cut the bumpstop and removed it. Once the stop is removed the damping adjusts as expected. The mechanism engages when the dampner is fully in and allows three half turns. The first two dont appear to do much, in the last half turn it goes from "easy" to pull open to almost locked. The picture shows the dampner at fully open, note that the bumper is almost twice the height of the gap (and wasn't split). Virtually impossible to remove. So either I am doing something wrong or Koni put the wrong stop in. Cheers J

Gents, Just to complete the story on the "adjustable" koni's; I called Koni, they confirmed, the only way to adjust these koni's (installed on the later Roadsters) is to remove the bump rubber. The only way to remove the bump rubber is... to cut the dust cover with a saw or a dremel tool. when I asked why this strange set-up, they replied "that's how Morgan ordered them". Maybe something was lost in translation between the two companies? In their defence, he said that the adjustment is not to have a dial-a-ride damper to fit the mood of the day or the track. They are intended to do a corrective adjustment for wear after a few years of use. That explains it a little bit. I also found when I had the car jacked-up while removing the rear shocks that the axle was not resting on the stops on the chassis. It was hanging from the shocks! On my plus4 the axle landed on the stops while getting air off a speedbump. On this car the full weight of the axle and the wheels will jerk on the shocks and bracket. These konis have an extra damping in the last 5mm before full stroke to provide a hydraulic bumper, but still I am not sure if all that weight on the shocks is a good thing. I have fitted Avo's now, the rears are 10mm longer and the axle will now land on the stops again. Anyone has any thoughts on this? I did email MMC with some questions (Marc B) but no reply yet. Cheers J

For the record, I got the following answer from MMC.
"Sorry for the late response. Even though the konis state that they are adjustable they are not. They are built specifically for us and are preset at the factory.
We understand your concern about the axle hanging off the end of the Konis on full stroke, as of now we have not had any problems with this. If you are really concerned we suggest that you consider fitting a slightly larger bump stop"

Hi GL, I fitted them 2 weeks ago. They are "right" length and I fitted some extra neoprene bump stops on the axle. The damping of the evo's is fine, it feels as if the car settles immediatly after a bump, not the kick from the back I had before after a bump. And that is at the lowest setting.
Cheers J
ps; I rode the V1000i Convert a few days ago. Lovely, it brought back good memories. And that styling (G5 or cally-T3) Fantastic!!!
