Folks - I have a situation with the ABS warning light - when starting the car the light is on, after about 50 yards it goes out, then after about 20Kms it goes on again followed by the overseer light and a yellow engine light. The car drives normally through all this.
We have replaced the battery with a new one, checked all ABS sensors for dirt and connections along with all wheel actuators. The situation continues each day.
Anyone got any suggestions as to what else needs checking?

Having just fitted a new battery I would get the fault codes removed and start from there. No fault codes on mine since new battery the dash was like a xmas tree.

Could it be an earthing issue? The early CX platform cars did have problems. There's (at least) one behind the dashboard, which for my money is something to check.

Definitely check the fault codes, make a note of them, see what they refer to, clear them and see what happens.
If you get a repeat then any codes can help narrow down the source.
From memory, a mate had an auto electric business. He would check earths as a quick first start. More in-depth he would check the voltage/amps on any sensors to narrow down and identify the problem.
I have a Maxiscan OBD tester and it could monitor systems with the engine running. It showed me which O2 sensor of the 4 on the Plus8 was faulty with the engine running. 3 sensors showed voltages stable and the faulty one was erratic.
Not a perfect tester though. The car had MIL occasionally coming on. Everything appeared ok and what cured the "random intermittent misfire" that triggered it was using higher octane petrol as a last attempt after head scratching checking. The engine ran ok and the Gems system used the stats package in it to accumulate misfires and trigger the warning. Stats and electrickery....a marriage made in Hades.

Sorry to read of your issues, I more or less gave up working on my cars when digitisation became the norm in on board monitoring and control systems..

Using nothing more than often flawed logic, it does seem that your intermittent fault may indeed be down to a poor electrical connection, and on a Morgan earth connections are usually the prime suspect.

That the ABS warning comes after start up, may indeed be related to the fact that you have just reduced the available battery voltage by quite some margin in cranking the engine to get it to fire up ...? That the warning disappears after 50 yds, may equate to the alternator having restored the battery voltage to a level where it can overcome the suspect connections electrical resistance enough to cancel the alarm..?

Folks - I just thought I would update all re this issue - My excellent mechanic at Kirwans Garage re-made all the earth connections he could find on my car and checked the connections of all the relays and plugs around the fusebox at the front of the passenger footwell and -- Hey Presto!! no warning light displays!!!!! So thanks to those on the forum who suggested an earth issue, it seems that this,indeed, was the cause!!
