...Two weeks ago I took my Grand daughter to a school holiday activity, on the way she said Papa do you want to play Yellow car, the first person to see a yellow car wins, I have been told it is a game kids like these days. That was a game when my kids were young (they're all in their 30s now!) It was called "Yellow Car - Mini"; you got a point for being the first to see a yellow car and another for a Mini. If you spotted a yellow Mini you won the right to punch your fellow passengers in the leg. I can only remember owning two yellow cars myself (one of which I still have). There does seem to be a move away from black and silver at last; I've noticed more colourful cars around in the last few years. My last two tin-tops have both been red. Interesting that the game has been around for a while. My mum told me that as a small child I wanted a Yellow Mini when I grew up. I remember seeing a Green MGB at age 6 and wanting one so I am guessing the yellow mini was before then. I finally got a Green MGB in my 60's but still have not got a Yellow mini. I still have time.

Our favourite game when we were kids on a journey was Pub Cricket. The number of legs on the pub name was the number of runs you scored. Red Lion - 4 runs, The Dog and Duck - 6 runs and so on. No legs, eg The Queen's Head, meant you were out and it was the next player's turn.
Much harder to play these days sadly due to the number of motorways and trunk roads bypassing towns and the enormous reduction in the number of pubs.

A play on Tie a Yellow Ribbon Now I get it. I thought it was a reference to Mark Bolan. Sometimes my brain goes off in strange directions.
