Tim, I've just uploaded portrait photo from my old phone to tm-img and it now renders correctly on TM with image size of 498 x 1080, maintaining same aspect ratio as above. It appears therefore it's downscaling height on portrait photos to a max of 1080 and width to now match original aspect ratio. From my point of view, at least, the update has fixed the issue - thanks again

Think you've cracked it Tim. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2026/08/10/DartMth_Castle_C-4.jpg) The above was taken at Dartmouth Castle last summer -. Alistair and Rich +8 in deep discussion. When first uploaded it displayed the stretched display. (Leica C 2672 x 4000 pixels).

Trying to work out who we could "fix" if we loaded the canon's. Gotta have a goal in life eh?
I don't think it is working correctly it is making me look fat.......oh, whoops.

![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/08/10/20260806_142712.jpg) Random last pic off my phone cam ... just crawled out from under the Landy where I'd spent a few unpleasant hours wrestling with terminally rusted bolts while half the dust in Scotland rained down in my face ... suitably filthy for a working-lad like me ... Horses rushed over and started licking me .. however they soon tired of that so I expect I'll still have to have a shower 😆 K Ps ... removing the rear tub to replace the loadbed supports after 30 years of neglect and living outside

Sadly, still distorted even after the 'fix' .... below, same pic but I cropped a couple of gate-rungs of the bottom ... we look marginally less mutant! ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/08/10/20260806_1427126e17be0baeac5881.jpg) K PS... As before that fixes it ... phone is a bog-standard Samsung Galaxy with Android and has just had it's latest update installed PPS ... checked the details and it claims to be a .jpg ...... 3014x3188 .... 2.74 MB PPPS ... in case any of this helps, I reverted to the original pic that came out distorted and the stats are; .jpg ..... 3060x4080 ..... 4.4 MB

This really is a PITA, isn't it?
I've just set the max image size to 1600 x 1600, could I ask you to try uploading the image that comes out squashed again? Sorry to be a pain.

![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/08/10/20260806_142710.jpg) Got the same pic and reloaded ..... when I go through the upload process the pic gets displayed as a thumbnail then processed .... the thumbnail in Tm-img is fine .. but when the processing of the upload takes place it becomes distorted K

Oh bugger, it wasn't that then. Back to the drawing board.
Looks like currently the only way to guarantee a clean upload is to edit and save the image before uploading.
I'll carry on looking.

No critcism from me at all ... trying to work with the multitude of devices and formats is a nightmare ... and I don't trust Samsung to have not dicked with the .jpg format for some commercial reason of their own and not changed the file type.
I'll certainly survive cropping a bit off my pics if that's what it takes 🙂

For what it's worth, I also use a Samsung Galaxy A15 phone. I have never had the image stretch problem in over 1500 pictures.
Edit: Hold that! I've just reproduced it. I have always uploaded pictures from Windows, but doing it straight from the phone stretches them. It's not cropping the picture that fixes it but running it through something else. I'll experiment more!
