Loving my S5 A8 ..... but I wish I could "heel & toe" on the Throttle / Brakes on downshifts. I'm finding that the engine braking and weight transfer on hard deceleration / trail braking is sufficient to risk the rear end coming around - particularly on the 3rd to 2nd downshift.

On my car the brake pedal seems too high in relation to the throttle.

Is the brake pedal height adjustable ?. Or raise the throttle pedal ?.

Or is it just me ?. .... I'd be interested to hear any thoughts.

I can't heel and toe in my 2013 Plus 8 (which i believe is the same chassis as the S4 or S5 Aero?).
Pedal box is super tight with my big feet, and the pedals heights aren't helpful either.
I tend to blip on downchange anyway so that's just habit, but either before or after braking depending on the exact situation on the road.


So no, you're definitely not alone.
I think most of the later Aero chassis'd cars are autos though so we're probably in a minority already :-)

Like you I insist on being able to heel 'n toe, even on my old working HiLux. On my current Plus Four I have actually shaped a piece of half inch plywood and screwed it to the accelerator to raise the level slightly. It works a treat and is in keeping with the use of wood in the frame. So, don't be afraid to mess around with bending pedals or adding height to the accelerator etc to get just the right setup.

I used to Heel and Toe my S1 ok… it was a bit of a faf but it was possible and used regularly on track days. Not tried the later cars with revised braking set-up.

I’m sure there would be a way to adjust the pedal if that was the issue.

I've added a 10mm thick pad to the top surface of the accelerator pedal (velcro for now).

Makes it surprisingly easier to heel & toe - I need to be wearing the right shoes though, still impossible in ankle boots or broad sole running type trainers.

Heel and toe in a series1 or any Aero your gonna end up in a hedge eventually. You boy racers.........Ha

Piloti driving shoes or Puma Supacat’s I find most comfortable.

Only on a track. It’s not really something required on the road.

Get a Go pro in the footwell of the series 1 love to see it. Unless your a church organ player with very miss shaped feet. As Roger Clark once said sideways to victory.

On the roads down here you only need second. The power and low weight mean once you have pulled away you only get above 30-40 about once per journey in the South Devon area during summer!

Well I have to say my talent as a driver ran out along time before i needed to left foot brake on an Aero. But hey we were all young once.

Probably time to explain why I bought the A8 in the 1st place .....

Before Morgan

I had a McLaren for 7 years. Effortlessly, Clinically, Cynically .... FAST !. You took all the risks, but it gave very little back in the shape of satisfaction from operating it well, or the sensations whilst driving it (ie Noise, sensations of movement, tactile feelings from the environent .... even smell !). With all the electronics you sometimes wondered who was driving who (until the speeding ticket arrived of course).

What I want from a Morgan

The pleasure and satisfaction of operating and being in charge / in tune with with a machine.

So - Manual gearbox, minimal electronics, maximum noise (Not loud per se - just emotive .... including the Stereo if you see my other thread).

I want 50 to feel like 100 (its the opposite in the 'Mac) and above all a car that needs to be DRIVEN.

Hence this "heel & toe" thread. I'm really not after going fast or lap times ..... It's just the satisfaction of DRIVING that I crave. Sounds, movements, skills, smells .... all turned up to 11 !

So far it's been a genius move, I'm loving it !
