Some time ago, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor; an oligodendroglioma for those interested.

I had surgery, followed by radiotherepy and chemotherapy. After several scans, I'm cancer free, though I'm still being monitored.

After the surgery, I had to surrender my driving license; I was able to get it back after a couple of years with no evidence of seizures. All well and good.

Until a year ago, where after complaining about persistant feelings of periodic light nausea, I was sent to a neurologist, and thence to have an EEG.

This detected a small area of reaction to having a bright light flashed in my eyes.

Thus I was conifrmed as having epilepsy... and had to surrender my license again, despite not having had any seizures.

I was put on some drugs and after a year of no symptoms (I've never had a seizure) I was told I could drive again.

The DVLA have been sitting on my application for the better part of five weeks now, and the nice weather has been and gone.

Pissed off doesn't even scratch the surface, and I have to resort to a quote from one of my favourite books:

I'm sorry to read of your medical journey, Alexander; however, glad you are out of the other side of it. With a little luck (I say luck because dealing with the DVLA requires it!), you'll be reissued your license soon and we'll have some fine weather in October (roll on Indian summer!).

I had a friend who got to 23-months and then had a very minor seizure, as he was honest, and reported it, the clock restarted and he had to wait another 24-months. Thankfully the second run was clear but we made sure to celebrate when he was able to get back behind the wheel!

My daugther had this 7 it sadly took months.The hold up was they use one specialist for her issue and he had backlog.
