I had a cracked screen before Christmas on my 1 year old 4/4 sport top left corner to 12" in at bottom of screen - just been replaced at the factory - but paid for by me & recovered cost less excess from insurance(no quibble - cheque by return of post - well done Headley!)
The works said the crack was caused by taking the hood off in the wrong order - (old style 9 pin hood) - apparently should be taken off from the rear first and then off the screen. I have tensioners on mine - both should be released before removing any of the hood. Warranty would not cover because of age of car(14 Months) and mileage done - 6K.
I hope that the problem does not recur now that I have been told how to remove the hood. But still feel that the tensioners have resulted in a slacker fit than the original hood fittings and therefore should not put the screen under enough pressure to crack the screen.
This seems a very common problem and maybe something the works needs to look into - I notice that in the factory some new Mogs have a more substantial pillar now being fitted to some classic models.

The easy up hood has much thicker A posts - that may be what you saw.

The tensioners have an over centre action and my dealer, Mike Duncan, feels that they can put too much pressure on the screen header rail. The factory's get out clause will no doubt be incorrect removal or fitting of the hood.....did you follow the handbook instructions?

The factory cannot refuse to cover the screen just because of the age and mileage of the car.....the warranty is for 2 years!

Oh-oh!! So much for the theory that it only happens with the Sports studded windscreens.

Its good to see some photos of the cracks at long last.....AND an Easyup Hood as well! To my untrained eye that looks like a stress fracture. In an earlier post there was a suggestion that the cracks were caused by flexing of the body but if that was the case here, the crack would surely emanate from the bottom corner.
There should be enough instances now of cracked screens for the factory to start taking the problem seriously.

By the way...anyone seen the humorous photo re cracked screens on Mog Wire?

On 1st pic there looks like some starring perhaps indicating impact damage (towards the bottom of the crack inline with the top of the rim of the tax disc holder)

I don't see that and anyway it should be safety glass & fail into crazed pattern all over. Looks like stress to me.

IMHO this is a design fault.
