it is stable at high speeds and "here" I'm fine with the current spec but I might want more power only when I'll take it in the mountains on the Simplon-pass you simply can't have enough Nm still have the creeps when I think of my "run" on the Simplon with Maxie's endless power-output

Interesting discussion to follow about tuning. After 50 years of racing, on and off road, on 2 and 4 wheels, I have seen that when it comes to faster lap times you have to do your changes and adjustments in the following order: 1 Driver 2 Driver 3 Driver 4 Rubber 5 Brakes and chassie 6 Engine
The other way around just cost a lot of money and breakdowns - Drive and have fun. Looking forward to track meets on three wheels

dear Stig at a certain moment you realise that some stuff can't be improved....then you simply ask for more power (23th I'm off for driver-training in the 3whlr ;))

Aeroman
Is this 125 bhp project a bolt-on conversion to the Mark I so to speak, or a full remodelling upgrade? Would be nice to know that we have the option to upgrade.

According to Mogwire:
"The engine manufacturer, S&S and Morgan state that they are developing after-sale packages for those who wish more power" Mogwire is an internet troll. Most of the information that is listed on this site is either speculative and/or information taken from forums such as this and used as their own "found" information. Often Mogwire puts a negative spin against MMC inside their messaging instead of reporting facts. Its terrible journalism and doesnt deserve nor gain my time. As far as I am concerned, I never visit the site anymore. The less hits that site gets the better IMHO. Well I have only seen one inaccurate thing on Mogwire, and I have found out many things there that I have not seen elsewhere - check out the Roadster 3.7 thread for example. But time will tell whether you or Mogwire are correct about MMC performance packs. Come now Brian, whilst I admire your loyalty I'd just like to stop you there. At the very least, how can I put this politely, you are wrong. In one article only, that you and I indeed had a bit of a heated discussion over (think it was the original plus 8 one) I pointed out three "inaccuracies" There have been many many others! IMHO the biggest problem with Mogwire is not the inaccuracies; some of that occurs simply by desperately trying to be the 'first' with the news. The issue, and I note you did not refute or disputeit, is as Krod so aptly states "Often Mogwire puts a negative spin against MMC inside their messaging instead of reporting facts". This becomes tiresome, childish and churlish to read over and over again. Facts? great. Personal opinion? Fine. Reporting an opinion or innacuracies as fact is simply unacceptable. It has been alluded to here and is well known in most Morgan corners. A wise old (Morgan driving ) sage once told me "You might think I'm stupid, and I am. But I'm not as stupid as you think I am!"FWIW Mogwire is owned and run by one person (someone above referred to "people") as I understand. It's a shame it has the reputation it has because like anything else, more information is generally a good thing.
Cheers

Secondly, why is the car so heavy? It really isn't rocket science to make the car lighter. I've said before, that if the likes of Caterham can do it, then Morgan should be able to as well. Just think, Caterham make their R300 weigh in at 515kgs - 515kgs! Morgan 3 wheeler - 525kgs. Come on, Morgan really aren't trying are they? Frankly I am appalled that a company dedicated to light weight sports cars cannot do better. If I was in charge of development of the M3W I would hang my head in shame. It's not that the thing won't sell, I would feel that my integrity as an engineer has been laid bare. Maybe in time they will knock it out with full power and lighter weight and it will be the car it should be now, but in the meantime.......................
Am I being too harsh? For £30 big ones I don't think so!
Is this the same R300 that was introduced circa 2000 (wracking the old grey stuff here to remember) and that was a continuous developmemt of the car Caterham started to build in approximately 1970? Not quite the same scenario is it. I know that one tends to overlook faults with a favourite car company, the same with a favourite uncle or child, but that doesn't mean the faults aren't still there, and more importantly, it doesn't mean they should be swept under the carpet. The MMC are big enough to take a bit of constructive critism, and in the end they will benefit and more importantly, so will the paying customer, ie us. Most here know that I have a great affinity for MMC as I like the products, the people and have a bit of an understanding of the huge constraints they work under (cost, legislation, tradition, legislation, history, legislation, (many) peoples high expectations and of course strict and restrictive legislation). Ok I may have over egged the legislation side but I hope you see my point. However irrespective of the above, comment, concerns and indeed criticism (hopefully constructive) are vitally important in any similar situation and they are no different. Personally, I think stating that the Head of Development should 'hang his head in shame' (my interpretation of your words) is a bit harsh. More so considering that, and I'm assuming here, you don't really know the issues they faced nor the constraints (see above) they have to battle every day. I happen to know him, and I can promise you, you will struggle to find a harder working, more dedicated, more loyal and more enthusiastic person in MMC or any other business, and at my age, I've seen and been involved with one or two. You are correct that we tend to overlook faults, maybe more so with MMC than elsewhere (though most probably applies to Caterham also?), but I have a theory of why this is true. IMHO I really do think that were we not able to do so, we genuinely would not have these vehicles at our disposal; from 4/4 to Roadster, plus 8, 3W to Aero. It just would not be feasible to develop and sell in small numbers as the development costs required wouldn't work with the relatively small numbers of vehicles actually wanted. They are niche vehicles after all. We would therefore all be driving VW's or Toyotas with an Eos or a Celica (or new GT86? Thingy) as our 'special car'.
Cheers
