i just think that a logo which has lasted almost an entire century surely does not need to be changed, they could have at least waited until the centenery and then had a major over-haul of the logo. the logo is the face of the MMC and i feel once agen, MMC has made a change simply for the sake of it, don't you think?? tis a sad day Young-one, you are now being re-classified as another old-one by the MMC. Lorne I don't recall seeing any such MMC expressed opinion? Have I missed something or is that a bit of a 'damning' assumption? BtG
Cheers

I also think it interesting that it was only the people with a 'trad' background who were really contributing. That says something as well. Of course. Because owners of trads tend to be more into the tradition (funny enough). Apart from the fact that it is great fun to drive, one of the major reasons I love my 4/4 is that it does represent 100 years of engineering tradition. I don't think that's a major factor for most Aero owners - just as owners of the "new beetle" are less concerned with VW tradition than owners of the trad beetle.

I don't think that's a major factor for most Aero owners - just as owners of the "new beetle" are less concerned with VW tradition than owners of the trad beetle. I think you are close.... but I think there is 2 differing types of tradition here... Firstly.. there is engineering tradition - The chassis, the wood etc.. etc.. Secondly... there is the Morgan tradition - The company, the country, the underdog family business etc.. etc.. As an Aero owner fully recognise the value of both.. but one more than the other... The Morgan tradition is one to hold on to... (I also think new Beetle owners recognise the heritage of the Beetle, they just don't care so much about the implementation of the vision) From an Aero perspective.. I was looking for good engineering decisions within the formula that is the Aero as an engineering package. Luckily.. the Aero is based on some great engineering capability and some mighty fine technology. You only have to look at the Trad Class A - Powertorque challenge cars to realise how not good the stock trands are from an engineering perspective. As an example, the roll cages are so extensive they esentially almost replace the chassis completely. Anyhow... I respect and recognise the "Morgan" community as a single group with a common respect for the "Morgan Tradition"... in all it's implementations.... It's just from an engineering point of view... let's just say some are not what I was looking for.

I don't think that's a major factor for most Aero owners. I am sorry to say it Julf, but it is really condescending generalisms such as this that get my goat. It seems that you have joined the band of people who take the attitude that somehow the Trad owner has a purer enthusiasm for the marque, than an Aero owner. Why can't you just accept that we are all enthusiasts for Morgan's and that this enthusiasm can be expressed in many different ways. If you wanted to draw a line between owners of trads and Aero 8s, I wouldn't like to do that. Spoken by a Trad owner and a genuine enthusiast for both the car (Morgan) and the people who drive them. P.S. I might mention that many of the Aero owners have either had a Trad in the past, or have a Trad in addition.

One thing for sure is that are a lot more similarities, in attitude and spirit, with Aero and trad owners than not. Here is a good question for you to answer for the trad fellas. If Aeros were no longer available for whatever reason, what would you buy, a Morgan or another car? Lorne

The irony here is no I don't think you should change it if it is recognisable but I definitely do think you should update it. Of course what I also believe very strongly is that it is entirely up to you whether you change it or not. Your shout and your perogative. BtG There is never a good reason to change a logo unless something unsavoury has happened and you are forced to distance yourself from your earlier market and company. However, if I did think about changing a logo, I would consult others in the club, ask the advice of friends I trust, bat it around the dgs like this and likely run a poll on the various options. I am sure you have done the same when making a business decision that will effect your employees, distributers and clientele. It is a ABC rule in any organization (be it business, government and even religion) big or small, to research any decision that effects your image. That is how it is done..whether you hire a fancy consultant, call a Ecumenical Council, a town hall meeting or casually drop it on the 17th tee during a round of golf with your biggest client to see whether he reacts by hitting you with his Calloway. I have owned many cars and I am sure you have as well. Every week we get requests, even from those we don't own any more, asking for feedback and comments on everything down to the seat warmer and trip meter. I cannot imagine them acting wisely in any other way. On the other hand, those who don't seek feedback get out of touch and make mistakes. For example, as noted here by the Aero owners in an earlier thread, the product changes so fast and inexplicably that their purchases are dated when they are made and their residuals suffer. The only businesses that do well on non-consultation are soap operas. Would my dear Audrey watch Cornation Street if tommorrow's show was predictable? Soap operas thrive on shock value. Automakers do not. There is no evidence whatsoever here that the MMC consulted with ANY of the players and constituents of its world over the last months on this decision. That fact speaks to a scary business vacuum at the top. In any event, what we can all do (while wishing them well) is grab some nuts and a beer and watch the ongoing episodes of "Pickersleigh Road". You have to remember that my message was a response to messages where Aero owners implied that the current uproar was due to trad owners being childish and anti-change just out of principle. I had, until now, naively been of the belief that we all appreciate the Morgan tradition, and learn to live with the foibles of our vehicles, be they 3-wheelers, flat-rads, "trads" or Aeros. But when somebody paints me as a luddite it gets both my goat and all my sheep as well. Oh well, I guess I take my flat cap and go...

Oh well, I guess I take my flat cap and go... Julf I never intended that as you well know. Let's just celebrate our differences and continue to support Morgan's in whatever form they take. P.S. Please where did you buy your flat cap as I think that I need a new one.
