Here is a good question for you to answer for the trad fellas. If Aeros were no longer available for whatever reason, what would you buy, a Morgan or another car?
Lorne An excellent question, I had in fact ordered a Plus 8 when Morgan wrote advising of the new Aero 8 and as I had already had three new Plus 8's, I was intrigued by the thought of a new model and exercised my option to change my order. Consequently, I was scheduled to have one of the earliest Aero's but I delayed delivery very slightly, so chassis no: 134 became mine. I was very impressed with the initial Aero experience, and thus I have since bought a Series II and a Series III, the last of which I still own. In a garage I have a re-built BDA RS1600 engine and I have been looking for a while for a 1970's Morgan 4/4, not quite a basket case, but something suitable to have this engine installed and to be re-built into a Morgan special; I suppose one would call it, for use around the English country lanes. Then I will have my two ideal Morgan's for me - not everyone's choice, but hey. So the answer to the question, would I buy another Morgan if the Aero was not available, the honest answer is YES. Now that we've got that out of the way, let me ask you a good question for the Aero fellas. If Trads were no longer available for whatever reason, what would you buy, a Morgan or another car? I trust that I can rely on you to answer this question just as honestly as I answered yours. As you know, it is almost a rite of passage on another DG to say that one will never buy another new Morgan, so it is hardly surprising if the MMC does not give those owners the recognition that maybe they crave. I think that in our enthusiasm we sometimes forget that it is a business and thus our interests and those of the company can at times be mutually exclusive. Looking forward to your honest reply Lorne.

For me, if it had to be new (and ignoring the fact that an Aero would be outside my budget) then it would be the car I nearly bought this time - an MX5 (and yes, I'm very glad I switched) simply because I'm happy with a 2 litre straight four.
Most of our driving is country lanes up to 'A' roads. Thanks to your kind demonstration I can appreciate the capabilities of the 'big brother', but I would not be able to use that potential much in normal travelling.
As discussed elsewhere however, a Classic body on an Aero I chassis, with a 2.3 litre engine would do very nicely indeed....

as much as i am 'all for' change, i just think that this is a step in the right direction (ie changing the morgan image) but i think this is just not the right time, IMHO of course.

Personally, I don't have any issues with either badge design, but why the change now? Does it occur to anyone here that there could be a hidden agenda by Charles Morgan, he may have to change the badge design before being taken over by BMW Thats my conspiracy theory

I have just joined this group and recognise some old friends. (I do hope it's not always as grumpy here as it is on this thread, however)
But back to the topic the new logo does not bother me in the slightest (despite the ugliest "O" I think I have ever seen). Neither do I think it has some sinister connotations. I would agree with an earlier posting and suspect that it is a tidying up exercise clumsily executed.
If I may introduce myself. My name is Brian Vickers from Jersey. I have been familiar with Morgans since the early 70's when I frequently used to visit Station Garage Taplow in order to get spares to support my - invariably vain - attempts to keep my Elan on the road. There were always plenty of Morgans around which at the time I thought were strange, slow, anachronisms, a view I kept for the next 30 odd years. However when the Aero 8 was launched I cancelled my order for a TVR Tuscan and placed an order for an Aero. I also started to immerse myself in the on-line Morgan community. The price of the Aero steadily rose (it was £49k when I placed the order) and I finally started to see the point of the trads, the combination of these two events led me to switch my order. 3 weeks later my +8 was in build

If Aeros were no longer available for whatever reason, what would you buy, a Morgan or another car? Lorne So the answer to the question, would I buy another Morgan if the Aero was not available, the honest answer is YES. That's what I thought! Good man. If Trads were no longer available for whatever reason, what would you buy, a Morgan or another car? I trust that I can rely on you to answer this question just as honestly as I answered yours. I only have honest answers. Not always smart, only honest. My answer to yur question has been given before. A little background though… I started off liking their looks, then the joys of working on them, then the friends and community we discovered and now we have come to like Morgans for the mogging we do..5-6 months of it yearly (we don't count daily driving). That is more than a hobby, it's a life. The roads that give us joy are clear country byways called “B or C” roads in England, “county” roads in the south US, “departmental roads” in France...etc. These require a super torquey very slim car. Sadly, after weeks to test, we found the Aero too wide for the roads we adore. Unless it is eventually slimmed to suit (fingers crossed that it will be!!!), we would not buy one. Of course, there are other mog models and years that wouldn’t suit either. We would not have hestitated to buy other new mogs that do suit, but would love one with the power I like. Would we buy other cars to travel with if all mogs were gone? hmmm We would need to get the same response from whatever we travel with that we have had with Morgans. Hard to achieve. Lorne (in the Loire after a splendid evening with Paris mogger weekended here.)

Lorne Appreciate question was for Aeroman but FWIW I would like to answer also. I bought my Aero instead of a Wiesmann initially. Would I have bought a Trad? Not in a million years. After owning an Aero, traveling to the factory meeting various people and meeting many Morgan owners, some of whom I have NOTHING in common with, many of whom I have liked instantly, my perception has changed. Click your fingers and eradicate Aeros, would I buy a Trad? Most definitely. A +8 or a roadster; in fact I spent a long time @ Mog007 drooling over a stripped out roadster as a Caterham 7 alternative anyway. [Puts on Rolf Harris accent] Can you see what happened there? BTW Lorne, you must have been a politician in a previous life as you clearly evaded a direct answer to Aeromans counter question I'm not sure how wide roads are in Canada but an Aero (even my series II 'fat boy special') is no Hummer. Young-one, you are now being re-classified as another old-one by the MMC. Lorne I don't recall seeing any such MMC expressed opinion? Have I missed something or is that a bit of a 'damning' assumption? BtG Actually, I thought it was a bit of light humor. Lorne Fair enough, sorry I got it wrong but a smiley instead of a finger wagging no-no would have expressed it more eloquently. BtG
Cheers
