Hi Martyn, we are talking about the plastic cover over the rear wheel, it sits under the beetle.

That's nothing new with Morgans. On older cars (like mine) you have to contend with Whitworth (BSW, BSF) as well! Luckily I have a selection of Whitworth spanners inherited from my grandfather.

Its an American engine so probably all those fasteners won't be metric!

This evenings jobs:

Removed the front wheels, you must remove the mudguard first to get the wheel off. Probably not a side of the road if you had a puncture.

Removed the front brake pads and put some copper grease on the backs of the pads. At the same time I adjusted the front wheel bearings, I felt that they were just slightly too slack.

Adjusted the rear wheel brake and handbrake cable. The handbrake will now hold the car on the first click.

Tonight I fitted my rear wheel cover with 3mm threaded inserts screwed into the timber frame and 3mm stainless posidrive screws.
I think it looks much better than the stock black wood screws, which probably won't hold for very long after they have been off and on a few times.

Filled up with fuel again today, 32mpg again.

I don't mean to be rude, but do you think that perhaps, if you find a moment between your mods and writting about them, you could take a picture? They do say a picture is worth a 1000 words...
