The program is now up on you tube. Wheeler Dealers Morgan plus 4 new episode. Very interesting. It is about 45 mins long. Ed China replaces the rusting chassis and upgrades the front and rear suspension as well as the front brakes.
Many thanks for the Heads up, I have been trying to catch it on Discovery.
Many thanks for posting this. Interesting how good they can look whilst needing so much work underneath. I enjoyed it a great deal.
I enjoyed it too, but I don't believe it to be true. A completely rotten chassis and a rustfree body and all the wood like nearly new don't go together - nowhere.
Being out in the Colonies I only just got to see it - I too was amazed they had to drill all those holes, to me that defeats the purpose of the factory galvanizing. And if the car was originally being used in a marine atmosphere those ally panels should have been much worse - alumin(i)um plus iron plus salt makes a fantastic battery........at the expense of the ally, not the iron. Also, I believe ally corrosion can be accelerated when welding steel in close proximity - it was a shame they had to weld in the gearbox support member to that new chassis.
We recently had Helen from Richard Thorne (the dealer featured in the programme) give a talk on the programme at our OxMog Noggin and she stated that some work was undertaken but certainly not another rebuild. It was interesting to hear their side of the story especially as it was them that effectively bought it back and then sold it on after this work.
A good overview of the amount of work involved though for sure.
