Another +4

Here are a few photos of my 2004 +4.
I bought it from David Gilbertson of Thomson & Potter last year it had covered 47k miles.
It is the prototype Duratec Engined +4, originally built as a 4/4 it had a Zetec 1800cc engine for its first 500 miles before the Duratec was delivered and installed.
The car incorporates a number of original features, some were carried into general production, but some not.
One feature that I particularly like is the electric (under dash) release for the 'easy up hood'(not carried forward).
Mark Aston was technical Director for Morgan at the time and evaluation for the reintroduced model fell to him, he specified a couple of suspension tweaks (Koni's and +8 coils) and eventually passed it on to David.
I am delighted with it, the ride is super smoooth (for a Morgan) and it seems to get better with each passing mile.
All the best
Tony

Lovely car. A beautiful blue. Is it Indigo Blue? The upholstery looks like a very pale blue from your photograph.

Nice looking car. My +4 is Monterray blue.

What a pity they didn't carry forward the electronic hood release, but I guess either they found some problems with it or it was too expensive to take it into full production. Do you need the ignition on to operate it? I have a 2008 +4 which has the pull-handle hood release inside the drivers door - which at least means I don't have to crawl inside to find the release as I would be bound to forget before getting out of the car!

Do you know which other mods you have which were not carried forward?

Reminds me of one of TVR's triumphs on the S series cars. They went to an electric boot release at the same time as the battery was relocated to .... the boot. So flat battery = impossible to open the boot to charge it (other than by powering things up by hooking some volts onto the front end or thru the fag lighter).

Hi Chaps,
The car was built in July 2004 as the new prototype 1800 Duratec engined 4/4. Later that year it was fitted with the 2.0l Duratec and became the prototype for the re-introduction of the +4 range.
The colour is Indigo blue and the leather is grey.
The hood release mechanism works without the ignition on.
I think that the Konis were considered but not fitted, and stronger springs (+8) for the front, soundproofing material under the bonnet (fitted for compliance) was not included on production cars.
The attenuation material was very poorly applied - a mess really, I have removed it and sprayed the underside of the bonnet matt black.
It has a 'test' specification catalytic converter, not sure if this was continued into production.
The car was used to gain a sign off of the ECU at Roush & Ford - it also was tested for emissions, noise and speedometer reading.
All the best
Tony
