I need Info about the old fashion steering damper from 1985.
Witch Material is use for the shims and the upper and lower plate. It has not to be bras or copper. I found after opening only a washer with 1 side flat to guide.

as probably do most Morgan agents. The damper blade method was used by Morgans until quite recently.

From Morgantica, the blade is spring steel and the bearing surface plate which the main spring sits on is bronze. Having renewed plenty of them, I would agree.

The other parts; there is a cast alloy spacer between the bearing plate and the blade. The adjustment shims are mild steel and so is the clamp that holds them and the blade to the chassis.

Have not bought the bits for a while, but all the times I have they were cheap.

Martyn, I still haven't found out why the main hole in the bronze plate is elongated. To give it play under load? I made one with a round hole and can't feel any difference.

I'm sure the answer given by Morgan will be that the elongation enables it to move. However you adjust the shims so that the blade can move so from that point of view it's getting to be an iffy answer.

And, I'm pretty sure the spring will wear a groove in it, and once that has happened, I'd have thought it was unlikely to move position.

Sure it's a bodge, but it's cheap, simple and works so I'm not going to worry
