Perhaps a more fruitful debate would be over whether the money spent on revising and implementing a new logo could have been more profitably invested in improving technical details on the cars – little things like leaking roofs, etc...?

Paul - it's always a valid point....
I don't think in this case cost comes into it. Theres no hint that thhey ahve employed consultants to do this (where it always gets expensive). Just looks like they got a decent designer to do an update. I'd be suprised if the total cost was far into 5 figures to be honest.
The cost of retooling etc will come on top, but then I guiess the badges are bought in, not made in hohuse so the cost of that won't be that significant either.
Very glad the website is getting an overhaul. Morgan have to remember that in this day and age the website is their window to the world and has a far bigger impact on their image than brochures or even the odd magazine article.
If they were canny then Morgan would get into the business of osting their own message boards and making their own website a community. Sites like that can generate and maintain brand loyalty and become a secondary revenu stream for the company. Things like taking club memberships, extended warranties etc could all be handled via the website, reducing costs and raising more revenu for morgan direct, all for a relatively low investment.
I guess I'm off in cloud cookoo land now though...
Wish they had an opening for a job up in Malvern as Website / IT co-ordinator as it would be easy to do one hell of a lot sith their website and really make the brand stand up and be counted for online. Stil the new website could blow us all away, but I'm not holding my breath...

Paul, And let's not forget the costs all the dealers will have when they have to buy new neon signs etc. On the other hand I assume, as there are no contracts, some will not change their show rooms. Roderich PS There are others who will know better but IMO they invested a lot in Aero 8 hoods. How many different versions have been developed?

Yes – quite agree. Although as customers we have not got to the point (I hope) where we brand ourselves with the logo, like the odd 'Hardly Ableson' owner does, there is still a huge potential available to MMC for relatively little outlay. A revised web site with added bells & whistles could do them a power of good. Funnily enough, BHM are currently in the process of re-designing theirs – perhaps you should give them a quick call....?
As to costings, I suppose it depends on if they are looking to change everything at once, or use up old stock of stationery, merchandising etc. first, but I suspect they'd have to fork out set-up costs for new stamps / dies / moulds etc on everything from dealer publicity material right down to the bit on the key fobs.

Btw, at the moment there is a discussion in Berlin going on on Daimler (Chrysler), Daimler, Daimler Benz, Mercedes Benz... Mr. Zetsche is facing the same problems with his customers;-)

IMO they invested a lot in Aero 8 hoods. How many different versions have been developed? Have no knowledge of, and don't dispute that at all. My entirely selfish interest is in the 'Trad' hood. Would have thought that 70 years or so should be enough to get it right, but my first convertible, so nothing to compare it to. Do any others leak?

I would not be surprised if Matt (Aeromax) Humphries did it It makes sense to use the (talented) resources available - and as such the cost will be zero in terms of getting it created. As stated on the Morgan website the logo will 'transition' (i.e. we'll use up the stock of old logo branded stuff ebfore we spend any more money - and sensibly so. As for dealers changing their signs - well it may happen over the course of time, but I'm sure they aren't going to tell off dealers in the short term.
