Phil as a current NCM Member, I must defer to your knowledge of current NCM/MMC co - operation and participation in meetings. However, I draw my information, in particular with reference to the 'Logo', from the Posting by the esteemed editor of 'Miscellany' to the MSCC sponsored Forum, this gave a different view.

Unfortunately, I doubt I will be receiving my copy of 'Miscellany' for at least another week. It was therefore interesting to learn that the 'Aero 8 Club' has been fully affiliated to the MSCC considering it's membership is 'exclusive' to 'Aero 8' owners. This opens up a completly new line of discussion about Public Relation excercises!

Thanks for brining the discussion back on topic.

Some excellent points have been made by all. wine

My feeling is that the logo has been designed in-house. If not, it could have been because it really is a tweek rather than a re-design. Any good designer could have/should have been able to make the revisions with little difficulty.

However, the actual form is a different matter...

Logo design can be VERY tricky, as anyone who has been involved in a re-brand or evolution of a brand will testify. I have spent the last 5-years doing just this and it is a thankless job.

doh

Come to think about it young chapette, yes!

I'm not suggesting anything sinister, significant or 'deep', but with all the 2009 shindigs pending, would have thought that the opportunity to look back/forwards and change something as significant as a logo would be then, rather than over the ‘coming months’.

Puts on helmet and flak jacket in readiness for ‘incoming’.

Actually, my thought was that this was because of 2009.

If you think of how soon 2009 actually is - 14 months away - MMC will need to get everything in place sooner rather than later.

My re-brand took 12-months to filter through; my guess is in a company as well established as Morgan it will take at least that, if not longer.

I'd say 2009 is the impetus and if they want to have it all rolled out on time, now is when it needs to start.

cheers

Very true - except they plan to start using it now –

I was thinking about a staged presentation - velvet curtains, media present, bought-in celeb (Dr. Clarkson?!, although ‘Hampster’ and a step ladder would be more appropriate) to do the unveiling bit and then the speech about 'fresh start for the next 100 years....building on traditions of the past...etc.etc, with the new ‘lite ‘n feathery’ logo being formally presented to the world, and used from that time on.

I still think they need to start now if you take into account the lack of knowledge about MMC in the 'real world' (i.e. non-Mog circles).

My feeling is the average person is unaware Morgan still make cars, so even if Morgan goes through a re-brand and then launches it in the style you mentioned near the end of 2008, I still think it will come as surprise to 99% of the automotive buying world read

Yes, certainly agree that the 2009 festivities will be the best time to take advantage of the landmark date, and to 'piggy-back' on every chance to raise brand awareness.

Also agree that it will come as a surprise to most of the motor world. Perhaps they'll do both; start changing now, with a big, formal 'new launch next year

Apology accepted!

At least we all know what "prevaricating" means now. smile

P.S. Thanks to all who took the time to write off-group.

P.P.S. In Digne and heading towards San Rafael. The weather is glorious down here and supposed to stay that way through next weekend for the Aero club.
