...assuming I can ever afford to retire... Yeah, I keep watching the retirement fund shrink...

Thanks for that Steve. Interesting to read the last half of Day 7 - I know that area, particularly the route across to Lochinver (the coast road is not the B-road) but from the description and photo, he used the route via Drumbeg to the north of the B-road. Lochinver fuel, well, when I was last up there (in the LR 127") it must have been 7 or 8 years ago, diesel was just £1 / litre. I've only been around part of Loch Eriboll, far enough to get a view of HMS Sutherland that was in for a week or so. Don't know the rest of the north coast until one gets across towards Castle of Mey. The 19 miles south out of Durness is one of those single track with passing places - but you can see traffic coming from miles ahead so it's easy to plan passing.
Cheers,

Sorry I have not been on her much since embarking. The Blog seems to take so long but I hope as your comments suggest, it is proving the best communication method and one I can actually do. I had that road all to myself Graham. It was wonderful. A couple of time on this trip the beauty of it all has caused me to get emotional, if you know what i mean. I did the Mull of Kintyre circuit yesterday and Mull Road and the east coast road north was diabolical. The car was shaken viloently most of the way. My horn push even popped out onto my lap. Off to Stranrear today heading south again sadley. I am visiting Lifes Morgan in Southport 9/10am on Monday for a quick visit before going on to meet Barry Wynne at Llandudno. I just hope this Tankers thing does not kik off again or i will have to pull the plu and dash for home, replanning to complete later. That would be a shame as i am loving every moment of this. Suspension Greasing day this morning so I had better get up.

I think you'll be home well before anything happens Frank. Apparently 500+ drivers in one company did not receive their ballot papers - nothing can happen before their input and that will take another two weeks (all according to the TV / Radio News...) Anyway - it would give you a good excuse to re-visit the Highlands!! And yes, I understand the emotional bit. Just as fantastic views as standing outside Eagle's Nest, Bavaria, looking out at all those mountain ranges, not really knowing which direction to point the 6x17 camera - scenic (no, not one of those Renault things) overload... And a lot closer to home! Cheers,

That's a nice circuit, did it last year in the 4/4. My brother lives in Carradale north of Campbeltown and the road from there up the east side of the peninsular had my horn push flying out all the time! Dreadful road but very scenic. He does it twice a day, god knows how long his car lasts, he's had broken springs and his brakes don't last long! Keep it up Frank....the blogs great.

Frank fantastic write ups, covering some of the areas I know. I am exhausted and exhilarated just sharing the journey with you. Legendary stuff. Thanks
