If the turnbuckles are still made in the old way the studs are only pressed into the backplate and can be pulled out when they are tightened with to much force. I learned it the hard way.

I did as suggested and took off the side screens, then removed the cards, two loose screws were evident?
Then took a piece of 1.1/2"x 9" pipe and bent the stays using the marks on
The stays as a measure.
The stays are really tight onto the pillars and look neat.
