Do most Morgan owners keep their cars on trickle? All of my 'fun' cars have been on trickle whilst in the garage and I would imagine I'd like to keep my yet acquired Morgan on one too.
From previous posts, it seems that the battery is a little awkward to access (I realise many do it through the cig lighter). I have my Mog on trickle charge (conditioner) whenever it's not in daily use, a week without the conditioner can be enough time to have an effect, I run mine through a cigarette socket I installed behing the dash.

What Austin is that then Simon?  Steve, I used to have an Optimate. That failed just outside of warranty. The Ctek was cheaper and seems to be a better unit altogether... Cheers,

I use an Optimate, which is fixed to the garage wall.
It has an extension lead which allows me to keep either my 4/4 or bike charged.

Like most everybody else i use a CTEK. but I have fitted the extra extension lead. This has a rectangular dashboard fitting but have made up a bracket that screws to the rear bulkhead so i can plug it in by putting my hand under the tonneau or hood just by undoing a couple of press studs or turnbuckles.
The other end is permanently hardwired to the battery and has an in line fuse. takes a few seconds to connect.

Can I safely trickle charge the battery through the cigarette lighter or do I need a direct lead to the battery terminals
I don't care how cold it is, we're having the roof down.

Again CTEK - seems excellent. Can also get an adaptor that you can charge via the in car power (aka ciggy lighter) if you battery is not easy access etc.

Out of curiosity generated by this thread I went to look and see what the factory had supplied. It is the Banner AccuGuard Car. You can find it in their folder for chargers hereThey supplied it with a cigarette lighter adaptor, cable with alligator clips and a cable for direct connect to the battery terminals. Since it comes from a battery manufacturer I suppose Banner are the suppliers of batteries to Morgan.

MeyerMog - There are conflicting views on this -- many use the cig socket without any issues. I tried that route and it blew the fuse for it and the sidelights so I now use a connection hard wired through an in-line fuse direct to the battery. To a degree "you takes your chances", you may be one of the lucky ones that can use the cig socket without problems.
I too use a c-tek charger - I've used them successfully for yonks with bikes and cars.

I used the Ctek on the lighter socket of the Plus 4 SS and it worked fine and without issue; however, like Robbie, I've heard mixed reports.
