I also bought a new Classic and had it shipped to Melbourne and then on to Perth last November. From my experience.... when you visit and check your new car measure the distance from the top of the rear wheel arch to the floor (should be within 15mm of each other) and duck under the front to check that both rebound springs are sitting symmetrically. I have had to have the rear leaf springs replaced (about 25mm out) and need a new font end as the welding on the lower beam on the offside for the king pin is 1cm out! Fun and games - all being done under warranty but a real hassle and these simple things should have been picked up before leaving the factory. Good luck!

Oh I forgot to mention that we think there were 4 or 5 cars out of 20 shipped to Oz last year with similar problems - I hope it's all sorted before you buy yours. Morgan certainly know about it!

I may have spoken too soon. Rear springs replaced but I now find problems with the front suspension, rebound springs sit up to 10mm different even though they have been fully greased (not done at the first service or pre delivery and now covered 4,500 kls) and the lean in the rear has returned. Morgan are going to have to get serious and fix this problem on a few new cars downunder.

Earlier posts seem to indicate that the issue lays with the way in which the cars are secured for ocean shipment, rather than a fault that existed in production.
Hope you get it sorted soon and I would imagine it has already been picked up by MMC

All of us in Australia would just love the problems to be sorted out. Two have had a complete rear suspension replacement but the lean has returned (in my case now 25mm lean to the off side, it was 35mm)and I have now discovered problems with the front. One car has to have a complete front end replacement as well as rear springs. Not a good look on brand new expensive cars...!

I bought my '75 4/4 four seater in Queensland and had to have it freighted down to Victoria. When it arrived it had a fractured bottom plate and fractured rebound spring on one side  and the seller of the vehicle, someone with not inconsiderable experience in importing and freighting vehicles, maintained that the only way that could have happened was by lashing the vehicle down too severely on the car transporter. I didn't know enough on the subject to argue the toss anyway but the cost of repairs was sorted out amicably.   Neil. _______________ 2003 - 4/4 Triumph Bonneville

It may well not be a transport problem, my 2010 4/4 is sagging on one rear corner, the drivers side. According to my dealer its a fairly common problem. Its not affecting the handling so I'm going to leave it in the hope that the other side settles in time...I obviously need a passenger!

Hi mr M,
By the reception of our 4/4, I wanted to drive that car not to inspect it.
No technical or practical faults came up .
Or first and only practical problem was about rain pouring in, and stupid enough, complaining about it. Experienced morgan owners explained us that we owned a Morgan, to cover up our knees with a plastic bag and to enjoy our car.
This said i have a question, out of curiosity, for you.
How do you keep australian snakes out of an open sports car?
