Hello

Is it possible to upgrade the 2.0 Duratec engine from a Plus 4 - 2010 into the powerfull engine from the Plus 4SS for a reasonable price?

Regards
Chris

I don't know the details but the SS engine is a Mazda base, rather than a Ford base. Someone will be along to fill in the blanks.

Complete new engine = £2600, so that will be cheapest. None in UK at moment, they are so reliable in normal driving Mazda don't keep any spares!

You'd also have to factor in the ancillary fettling that MMC have done - including ECU, throttle body, exhaust, etc. Personally, I don't think replicating the plus 4SS would be cost effective; if you simply want more power, I would imagine there are less costly avenues.

I would've thought Cerealsurfer is the man to ask about this!

If money isn't a problem, have a look at the engines Omex supply. These are turnkey engines but as Simon says you still need to add in the extra fettling required to fit in a Morgan. For example, the throttle is fly by wire and would need to be converted to cable, the ECU needs to interface with the Morgan dash etc, etc. Personally I'd be talking to the likes of Chas at Mogsport, keeping the Duratec and adding throttle bodies and decent exhaust system.

Funny how Aero Racing supply a throttle body kit for the 4/4 but not for the Plus4.

Graham.....there's a Plus4SS in build at the factory at the moment. I thought they had built the full number but obviously not.

If costs are no object, look at this site. I guess they can built an engine to meet your likes.

BTW I´m very impressed by this car:
