Congratulations Nigel, but don't be put off by a 'little rain', a steady 50mph + will keep you dry and better able to appreciate both the car and the environment. A 'Mog' with the Hood on is akin to driving a Tank in all respects. If travelling on your own use the Tonneau; keep a cloth handy to stop the accumulated water dripping on your side.

With or Without the Hood on, keep a Chamois or similar handy to keep the inside of the Windscreen clear. Something water-proof over the knees will help prevent 'Wet Knees Syndrome, just make sure you dry out the carpets when you get home. Even the newer cars are not immune to the last problem; as I have recently found out.

The above 'Pearls of Wisdom' go back to 1907, so don't be put off, it will just help you to enjoy your 'Morgan' experience more. Nobody ever bought a 'Mog' for convenience and comfort!

Nigel, just noticed your new Mog has the new style hood; sorry don't know her name - hint to you. Life will be a lot easier for you with that. You can also use Rod's Mod to stop 'Wet Knees' Syndrome when the hood is up.

I think it is important to use the same type of sealing rubber as shown - in the construction industry it is known as 'WaterStop' and thats exactly what it does. Arian is having the Mod carried out, Paul's car as well.

Thanks, that would be good - I had spoken to Steve Simmonds and he mentioned a mod to the rubber sealing strip that improved the watertightness - so the info would be good, perhaps I can obtain the strip and fit it myself.

I cannot see an option to turn PMs on/off, so I presume it's on by default in this forum.

I already have a name in mind, but rather like a new puppy I need to see if it "fits". The other cars in our family (except my Volvo) have names. Daft isn't it!

Daft, absolutely not. Shows you are well suited to having a 'Mog' in the family.

I can think of a lot of names to call my Volvo at the moment, most are not complimentary.

Actually I like my Volvo (V50 2.0 140 diesel) - it's fast, quiet, comfortable, reliable and economical (50mpg) but doesn't really have a personality...so we struggled to find a name for "it"!

Re leaks on new hood - I did find an excellent article with pictures and a solution for leaks at the corners. To my shame, didn't record where it came from, or the author, but can send a 'word' doc to anyone who wants it by email.

'reliable' a word that my Volvo - an S40 T5 - is unable to comprehend in Swedish or English! Two years old next February, in that time she has spent an accummulated five months 'off the road' with the dealer. I think she prefers him to me.

We are currently up a further 7 days and counting!

Would love a copy (despite the fact that lightweight camping towels work well as a secondary solution )
