One second left of the long wait….zero, time for delivery!!

My Morgan virginity is now a passed part of my life, now being one in all aspects genuine and proud Morgan owner!
Summary: I have never before bought something new…for so much…that has felt so old…but still so right!

If you have followed this thread you know that I have been a bit shaky in finding out my needs regarding Morgan…and that I finally ended up ordering a Plus 4 without even been driving a Morgan (now when reading it the whole story sounds a bit weird…but thousands of enthusiastic TM’ers can’t be wrong, or?
No they can’t! Picked up my lovely Sports White/Tan Plus 4 this Friday just before lunch, Sofia drove me there and after a quick glimpse she said is was lovely (I think I might have mentioned buying a car in a brief sentence…) and then she drove off. Paperwork fixed and a couple of extra accessories selected. The sky was dark but just before rolling the Beauty out of the showroom Sofia called and said that just a couple of kilometres outside Vetlanda it was clear blue sky…lovely, the maiden tour will be roof-less.

Photo, handshake, enter the car, ignition, fire up, wave good bye and now….it is just me and my Morgan getting to know each other on the 70 km trip home.

The car rides a bit high on its unused springs but not at all as hard and bumpy as I expected. The car is equipped with the 6,5”x15” black wire wheels (standard on the Roadster) and I guess the higher side walls on the Avon’s also helps in giving a slightly smoother ride…and a lovely fat old school look

! The car is extremely easy to drive, all controls feels natural and in the right position. Engine is great, far more torque than expected (maybe also because of the cars weight), gearing for sure fits the engine and the Mazda gearbox is a masterpiece. Lovely tight and with short travel. I am a bit spoiled with seat comfort but the seat fits me just perfect, after a bit of testing the left leg finds a relaxed position, love the smell of leather! Visibility obviously great, side mirrors are a joke but after a bit of muscular exercise (bending the right mirrors “outside” to give it a little more adjustment at least I can see backwards, standard will be replaced with round aftermarket convex version). Driving with the side screens on wind noise rises with speed, glad I ordered the sun visors, looks great and fills their function (even some effect but not huge as wind deflectors). Steering is direct, quick and with a great feeling, not as an Elise but not far from…
Arriving home, quick late lunch, ready for test drive two. Know of some great curvy roads in the forests. Narrow, tarmac, bumpy and extremely twisty (one corner starts even before the previous ends…). Car feels very safe and responsive, swallows bumps and no strange behaviour. Keep down the revs…for the first weeks…for sure a hard exercise in self control with a car like this but it is a great car to drive, very enjoyable. I also equipped myself with a leather helmet in dark brown moose leather (no horns however). I have always found it very hard to keep my dignity wearing a leather helmet but for the first time ever it felt so natural. With the heating on the only part of your body suffering from the cold wind is your head and neck so helmet it is!
Rest, coffee, reflexion – well, I need more!
Could not stop myself from a third trip, this time with Sofia riding shotgun…(even lower revs) and a quick journey into more civilised parts of the area for Friday night dinner shopping – time to celebrate, red wine and sushi…not necessarily mixed together.
Sofia just loved Morgan’ing, think she look forward to driving (she even browsed for leather helmets later in the night, in red leather and far more stylish than mine…

).
Well, all in all, I am very positively surprised with the car, some small details to fix and detailing to carry out but…Oh my God has it got personality – loving it!
Today’s weather has not allowed for photographing but I’ll be back…now I will go driving trying to find some nice backgrounds and scenery!
All the best/Tony

Happy new owner - M3W with a Plus 4!
The Classics & Sportscarcentre in Vetlanda just became Morgans "EU Dealer of the year". Congratulations to Lars Ericsson and his team!

Still not sure if to mount the tan bonnet strap or not...
Spare wheel has got wrong dimensions (standard Plus 4), a new one is on the way from Malvern.
