...not to mention designed by someone who is an engineer not a cartoonist...
Bit harsh G. I wish I had his talent...
Today I had a ride up Prescott in Dixon's Coupe (that slowed him down a bit - 130kg ballast in the passenger seat does have a negative effect ). Followed that by passengering with Ian Patton (BOC General Manager) driving the 3W... Shame I can't operate the damn pedals... Back there again tomorrow - wonder if I can blag a ride in a Veyron??
Cheers,
Graham (G4FUJ)

"Has the htought ever occurred to any of you that if the car had been properly R and D'd ( not to mention designed by someone who is an engineer not a cartoonist) a lot of what you are having to do ( and having to pay for) should already have been incorporated"
The point is Gerwyn, that most of us already know that the car is 'work in progress' but want it anyway. I am on record as saying that it is far too heavy, it should be at least 100kgs less, and the motor could usefully produce more power [I think MMC decided to limit the power to not only save drivers from themselves, but ease wear and tear on the belt and bevel box.
Talking of which, when I collected my car the other day, I was told that a new shipment of quiet bevel boxes is now being fitted, and cars previously fitted with the original were being recalled for fitment of the new one. Apparently the machining on the old was was incorrect.
My hope is that when MMC bring out the lighter and more powerful, fully sorted 'Super Sports' they do not charge too much for it, £30k was difficult enough to justify this time!
I have a seat back bolster custion made up with 2" foam and trimmed with tan PVC, so that my other half can drive the car. It's shaped to match the contour of the cockpit.
She couldn't comfortably reach the steering wheel or the pedals. Now if she wishes to drive, we just put the extra custion behind her back and she has no difficulty handling the car.
I've lost a bolt from where the exhaust is fit to the engine tighten the remaining bolt made the noise-level "acceptable" don't think I need an "open pipe-exhaust" though
the more the miles I've done, the smoother everything gets and the exhaust starts to "pop" more and more, me likes
further more I drives just the way I hoped it would NOT in the need for more power
bevel-box: not disturbing/annoying on short distances, but on a long trip it might be too much hope the upgrades gets here for the indian summer then I plan to take it a bit further out in the country

I'm 6'4" and couldn't get my legs under the wheel to be able to drive it - my Dealer (Allon White) fitted a spacer behind the wheel which solved the issue..photo attached
They also fitted some heated seats - I know, it's a bit wimpy but it was a small price to pay to get financial approval for the purchase from my better half!!!
A couple of mods which I done so far, pictures will follow when I've worked out how to download them onto the site.
I think the standard steering wheel is absolutely cr4p, the spokes are in the wrong place and it looks naff, so I have fitted an 11" Motolita wheel with polished ali. spokes, which first did duty on an old Lotus 7 S111 which I owned 25 years ago, and has been on various Caterhams since from time to time, to my eyes it looks good, picks up on the ali. theme of the switches and gear knob and best of all, feels good and doesn't feel too heavy when driving.
The other important mod. I've done is to make up a little parcel shelf which sits right across the car above the tranny tunnel, invaluable for gloves, sunnies, phone, hat, and all the rest of the little bits and pieces we need when driving. Where do the rest of you put all these little bits and pieces?
I can see me doing away with the Banner battery and substituting a neat little sealed battery against the bulkhead and moving the oil tank back to where the battery is located and making up some sort of ali. box to take 'stuff', there is so much room under the front cowl, it's just wasted now.
I have been looking under the cowl as well, there is a lot of wasted space in there.
I keep most of my stuff on the floor just in front on the seats, it isn't in the way there.
More annoying, I was at a local hill climb today and when the car was left unattended, children had been standing on the heat shields and the seats. It seems that you can't leave this car without people molesting it.

Very annoying!! But hopefully it left such a deep impression in the young little rascals...so that they will be the one renovating a M3W, "the dream car of their childhood", in year 2070 something No excuse, but I am trying to see something positive in the next generation
