If any are interested. I had an unfortunate incident at the forecourt a few weeks or so ago where by I filled the forecourt up with petrol and not the tank. Suitcase, Spare wheel and luggage rack removal later told of petrol filler pipe with several splits. Went about replacing it was told and had to order the part in at £92 + VAT, for the 2005 Roadster, blimey! Anyway got in there took the old off this last weekend only to find the replacements breather pipe was longer than the original, I had to put the new on, as I had cut the old off and petrol was leaking, so cut it down some £25 pounds worth. Pictures show splitting and difference in length. The part number on the old one is MPS0554 some £48 + vat a +8 part. Just suggesting don’t be as green as I was. Just replaced the same part on my 4/4 £79 from Melvin Rutter. Fit well straight out of the box!
Smell of petrol now gone

Seems somewhat expensive all round for a pipe?
As I said I made a Rookie mistake, wont happen again, I hope.

Seems alot of money for a bit of rubber pipe, however i can see there is quite a bit of moulding going on in the design. Does not anyone know of someone specializing in Morgan After Market parts !! maybe i should start up selling them !!!!

I had the same problem on my 2005 Roadster, although without the forecourt drama! I also had to cut the breather to length, but the up side was that I could fill the tank at full pump speed after that, whereas before I had to fill it at a dribble. It cost me about £100. Wish I'd known about the other part at the time... Ian

I also had to cut the breather to length, but the up side was that I could fill the tank at full pump speed after that, whereas before I had to fill it at a dribble. I noticed this feature when filling my tank for the first time...now looking forward to next filling session. Are all new trads like this? Is there a way to get rid of the dribble-filling? It takes ages to fill and I have a feeling that "the volume counter" on the pump does not work that well if not on full speed (maybe just a feeling...but when using that technique I always get 11 liters into a 10 liter can...).

The problem with mine was that a loop in the breather pipe formed an air lock, which stopped the air escaping from the tank, causing a build-up of pressure. The breather pipe needs a continuous fall from the tee on the flexible pipe down to the connector on the top of the tank.
The new Roadster is fine.

Shiremog, interesting as am now looking forward to a fill, as mine took ages to do so. Sad wanting to pay for fuel to check something. No smell of petrol while navigating a round about now though.
