I'm not going to bother. If you carried everything you're meant to for all the different countries there'd be no room for any luggage.

I've taken a different view and spent £5 on a pair of NF approved single use breathalysers from Halfords.
My theory is that if I broadly comply on the straightforward things then maybe there will be more sympathy should I accidentantally breach somewhere else. May or may not be realistic, but for £5.......

This morning I asked Quentin (MSCC travel man) what the score was with this. Below is his reply.
"Hi Steve,
Legally required from 01 July – although local knowledge is that les Flics will not be enforcing the €17 fine for not having one until November.
The general opinion is that this is simply a cost saving exercise as they often have mass checks where a road is blocked off, and everyone has to blow in the bag – the cost in breathalysers to the authorities must be substantial, so they will now stop and ask you to use your own!
So you must have two, otherwise they can stop you, get you to use your last one and then promptly nick you for not having one!
Last month they were available on the ferry at £5.99 for two, or in Super-U at €1.50 for two (I must get my calculator to work out which is the best deal).
Cheers
Quentin "

Blimey! I thought it was so citizens could check themselves to see if they were ok to drive. If it's for the constabulary to use motorists' own equipment on themselves I can foresee a huge potential black market for dodgy ones that don't change colour however drunk you are.

Yep! Approved versions which are presumably stamped and certified etc are already the only acceptable type - or so I'm led to believe!

What everyone should be worrying about is the stop line. Gendarmes in our area are enforcing this with an an the spot fine: that can be 90 euros. My friend stopped and moved forward. The police informed him that he had not stopped for four seconds at the line. Okay, raise your eyebrows but be warned.
