I should have been paying more attention as I know this has been discussed but where do I get these Hard Chrome King Pins? 14,000 miles and mine are shot, despite prudent greasing, so I blame the first owner!Well I'm told it's the bushes which are worn out but assume it's a total replacement job which I will not be tackling myself.
Also the Gaiters, did someone go into production? May as well protect the new pins.
Any advice/recommendations gratefully received, with thanks in advance.

Having just had the King Pins and Bushes replaced on my 4/4 Sport, after 16,000miles (from last change), I would also be interested in a source of supply for Gaiters.

I don't think anyone actually sells them, as they are so simple to make. All sorts of things can be used from spare bits of vinyl, hoover tubes split down one side, or in my car a couple of old steering rack gaiters.

All you need is something flexible that will wrap around the rebound spring and can be held in place with a couple of zip ties.

For a permanent solution, fit hard chrome kingpins, available from all the usual sources. I got mine form John Worrall

Motorcycle fork seals work as much to keep the dirt and grit out as to keep the oil in. Has anyone ever considered using fork seals as "wipers" to keep the dirt out of the bushes?

I got my hard chrome kingpins from New Elms, at the same time as rutherford springs, adjustable AVO's and brake reaction bars, he threw in some neg camber plates. Fitted at the Market Drayton Morgan Hospital....

Keep meaning to cobble up some gaiters, haven't got around to it yet

I have split electrical conduit, of the corrugated kind on RiTA. Also have a pair of Dave W's Mohair variety for when the plastic ones expire - they were to go on the +4.
Someone did make leather ones at one stage, but the price was rather extortionate. Many use part of an old inner tube wrapped around the rebound spring.
All you need is something that will keep the road crud out Dave...

Cheers,
